Atlanta (4th in the Serie A) take on Juventus (3rd in the Serie A) on Sunday 1st of October, at Gewiss Stadium, at 17:00 PM (BST).

Atlanta won their last game in the Serie A, beating Verona 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Teun Koopmeiners in the 13th minute to secure the victory and the three points for Atlanta.

Juventus also won in their last Serie A outing, beating Lecce 1-0 at the Allianz Stadium. The only goal of the game was scored by Arkadiusz Milik in the 57th minute to win the game for Juventus.

In time, Man United will be hopeful that Rasmus Hojlund is the front man to lead their line for years.

The burly 6ft 3in striker is beginning to settle in at Old Trafford, and whilst United’s supporters are yet to see the best of him, it’s only been a handful of games for the 20-year-old in his new environment and he is evidently still learning when to make his runs into the box, how to dovetail with the likes of Marcus Rashford etc.

The strength of the Red Devils pursuit of the player should leave the fans in no doubt as to how highly Erik ten Hag and his technical staff rate the Danish international.

Like all good strikers, he could do with a goal or two to get him going, and you feel that once he’s put a few away that there’ll be no stopping him.

Supporters that were brought up watching Ruud van Nistelrooy will arguably be watching to see if he can have the same type of impact as the Dutchman.

It’s recently emerged that the Premier League club had to fight tooth and nail to get their man too.

According to The Athletic (subscription required), United had intended to offload the likes of Donny van de Beek, Fred and others to Atalanta in order to bring Hojlund’s price down.

Newcastle United are said to be among a number of Premier League clubs considering a move for AC Milan star Charles De Ketelaere.

The midfielder completed a move to the San Siro last summer for £29m as part of a deal with Club Brugge. However, things did not work out for the Belgian star and for this campaign, the player has been sent out on loan to Atalanta.

De Ketelaere has started the season superbly with his new club, notching up three goal contributions in five games, and a number of top sides are now said to be monitoring him.

A report from CalcioMercato states that Newcastle are considering a move for the 22-year-old, alongside Arsenal and Manchester United.

The Magpies have a good relationship with Milan having completed a big deal for Sandro Tonali this summer and that could stand to them if they move for the Belgian star next summer.

Friday lunchtime sees the draw for the little brother to the Champions League – the Europa League. Proceedings will begin at 12 midday BST on September 1, and at 1.30pm BST the Europa Conference League draw will follow.

This season West Ham, thanks to their epic Europa Conference League final victory over Fiorentina, get the reward of entering European football’s second biggest competition, and they’re joined of course by Liverpool and Brighton from the Premier League.

All three English clubs have differing styles and will arguably have to adapt them in this competition given the strength of some of their potential opponents.

David Moyes will be delighted that the Hammers have been seeded in Pot 1, meaning that they miss some European heavyweights in the group stage.

That said, there could well be some tricky and long-distance ties ahead.

Medical booked as West Ham seal major transfer

It’s been a long time coming, but West Ham are on the verge of sealing a major transfer deal after news broke that a medical had been booked.

David Sullivan and David Moyes haven’t had the best transfer window this summer, and it’s difficult to understand who might be to blame for the lack of new signings.

Is it the owner for not letting go of the purse strings or the manager for not identifying appropriate targets?

In the grand scheme of things, apportioning blame doesn’t solve anything either because the Hammers are where they are – and it’s vital that they move forward if they want to have a successful 2023/24.

Moving on a potentially disruptive influence in Gianluca Scamacca will help, and fortunately for the east Londoners, it isn’t likely to be too long before the disappointing Italian is off their books.

According to reliable journalist, Fabrizio Romano, the former Sassuolo man has got a medical booked for Saturday afternoon with Atalanta, after the Serie A side agreed on a €25m fee with West Ham, plus €5m in add ons.

Seeing another player leave before one comes in is sure to disappoint the long-suffering Hammers fans, but there was little chance Scamacca was going to give his best for the club so getting him out quickly had to be a priority.

Furthermore, the transfer fee and cost saving on salary gives Moyes even more financial muscle for the remainder of the window.

Atalanta have reportedly reached an agreement with West Ham United for striker Gianluca Scamacca.

That’s according to leading transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims the Hammers’ forward is set to join Atalanta in a deal worth £26 million.
