The likes of James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez have settled into life at the London Stadium brilliantly, whilst Mo Kudus is finding his feet after a couple of cameo performances.

Defender, Konstantinos Mavropanos is the only one of the quartet that were signed who hasn’t really had a look in so far in this campaign.

It’s perhaps with that in mind that Calciomercato are linking the Hammers with a move for Fiorentina’s 27-year-old defensive colossus, Lucas Martinez Quarta.

The Hammers do have a plethora of defenders at the club though in Nayef Aguerd’s case, there was believed to be interest from the Saudi Pro League in the summer but the Moroccan international stayed in east London.

David Moyes may now consider him as surplus to requirements, particularly if they’re able to secure Martinez Quarta for a reported €25m – a bargain by today’s prices, particularly for a player that’s entering his supposed prime years as a footballer.

Transfer news expert for Fabrizio Romano has stated that Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is looking for a move away from the club this January.

Speaking in the video below on TikTok, Romano explained that Man Utd considered Hojbjerg in the summer, though they ended up making Sofyan Amrabat their first choice, signing him on loan from Fiorentina.

Still, as per Romano’s latest update below, there is still a chance for the Denmark international to leave Spurs this January, with Juventus supposedly among his admirers…

One imagines we won’t see United coming back in for Hojbjerg this winter after filling that midfield role with Amrabat, though it will be interesting to see where the player ends up, as it seems increasingly unlikely he’ll be at Tottenham for much longer.

The 28-year-old previously looked more of a key player for the north London side, but he’s now out of favour so he’d surely do well to find a new club when the opportunity arises again in January.

Fiorentina midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura has just given Italy an important lead against Malta with a stunning goal.

Bonaventura, who had not represented Italy since the 6-0 friendly win over Moldova on October 7, 2020, was called up by Luciano Spalletti for this game and he has not disappointed.

The 36-year-old showed brilliant feet and skill as he collected the ball on the edge of the penalty box before spinning and curling one in exquisitely straight to the top right corner.

Liverpool asked about the potential signing of Sofyan Amrabat during the summer just after missing out on Moises Caicedo to Chelsea.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano in the Daily Briefing, with the reporter denying claims that Amrabat came particularly close to a move to Anfield, as the Reds focused on other priorities such as Wataru Endo in that position.

Amrabat ended up moving to Manchester United on loan and should be a fine addition to Erik ten Hag’s squad, but it’s also easy to see why he’s been linked strongly with Liverpool as well.

The Reds endured a difficult summer as Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all left the club, with four new midfield signings coming in in their place.

Amrabat is a fine player who could’ve been a good fit, but it seems he simply wasn’t as much of a priority for LFC as the names who did eventually come in, according to Romano in his column today.

Romano said: “He (Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg) was on Atletico Madrid’s list in the summer, and he remains appreciated by the club; Manchester United also considered him as a backup option as DM but Sofyan Amrabat was the only priority. Let’s see what’s going to happen with his new agent.

“And speaking of Amrabat, I’ve been asked about some reports of Liverpool coming very close to signing the Moroccan midfielder this summer. From what I know, there was just a call from Liverpool in the summer right after the Moises Caicedo story to ask for conditions of Amrabat deal and then nothing else.

“It was not even a negotiation, just a request and then they moved on different targets. I think there’s no need to compare as in that position they preferred Wataru Endo, so their choice was clear.”

Manchester United have just signed Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, but it seems he reportedly left the Serie A club on a bit of a sour note this summer.

The 27-year-old impressed during his time in Italy and also showed what he’s capable of on the biggest stage last year with some superb performances to help his country make it to the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time in their history.

Amrabat should be a fine addition to this Man Utd squad, giving them an upgrade on the departing Fred, but some fans may be concerned about the way he left figures disappointed with the manner of his exit at Fiorentina, as reported by Corriere dello Sport, as cited and translated by Sport Witness.

The player quite clearly separated himself from the rest of the squad in a bid to seal a move away, and this lack of professionalism might not bode too well.

It was a deal that took right up until deadline day to complete, but it appears that the transfer of Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina to Man United was never in doubt.

First reports of a potential switch emerged back in June, and the longer things went on without a successful conclusion, the more likely it appeared that the Moroccan international wouldn’t be plying his trade at Old Trafford during the 2023/24 campaign and beyond.

However, the strategy that Erik ten Hag and the club employed, ensuring certain other deals were in place and finalised first, before moving on to the Serie A ace, worked perfectly.

‘The deal to take Sofyan Amrabat to Man United was never close to collapsing,’ transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, wrote in his exclusive CaughtOffside Substack.

Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has joined Manchester United on loan from Fiorentina until June 2024.

The club has officially confirmed the signing, with Amrabat expressing his delight at joining the “club of his dreams.”

Manchester United has the option to make the transfer permanent next summer for a fee of £17.2 million.

This signing is significant for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United on deadline day. Amrabat, who has been a key player for Fiorentina as well as his country.
