Arsenal are set to miss out on transfer target Andrea Cambiaso as Juventus edge closer to securing his signature.

Cambiaso is a young full-back currently plying his trade for Genoa. The 22-year-old managed 26 league appearances last season, and his performances have turned the head of multiple European clubs.

According to Calcio Mercato, Arsenal have shown an interest in the defender this summer, as they look to find cover for the injury-prone Kieran Tierney.

Kieran Tierney missed a lot of last season through injury.

As one of Ukraine’s finest footballing exports, Andriy Shevchenko remains a big name and a big deal.

On Monday, he took over at Serie A’s Genoa, his first foray into club management after years at the helm of the Ukrainian national team.

Time spent at AC Milan as a player means that ‘Sheva’ knows all about the Italian league and isn’t going into his new role with limited knowledge of his new surroundings.

However, he does have the biggest of jobs on his hands.

Genoa are only out of the bottom three on goal difference and are just three points off of the foot of the table.

They are also one of only two teams in the division – the other being Cagliari at the bottom – to have won just once in the league all season.

To that end, it seems astonishing that he’d even try to prise a player from another of his former club’s Chelsea, but according to Secolo XIX, cited by The Sun, that’s exactly his intention.

An injury-hit campaign for Christian Pulisic has meant that only now is the American back to full fitness, though he’ll find it incredibly difficult to get back into the Blues starting XI.

Why on earth would he want to throw himself straight into a relegation battle just because of the offer of regular first-team football?

Shevchenko is a reference in the game for many, and may well be persuasive, however, Pulisic’s purpose would surely be better served battling for his place under Thomas Tuchel.

The November FIFA international window is the toughest for the Mexico national team. It will see them face the other two contenders in the region, Canada and the United States.

Mexico leads the entire region through six matches with 14 points, but they’ll face their most challenging task of the qualifying round as they’ll play both of their fixtures on the road.

It is worth highlighting the absences of Gerardo Arteaga from Genk and Diego Lainez from Real Betis. The match against the United States will be on Friday, November 12, and against Canada, on Tuesday, November 16.

Video: Lucas Pratto suffers potentially career-ending fractured ankle injury in sad moment for Feyenoord and River Plate star vs Ajax

In the 79th minute of this afternoon’s Eredivisie clash between rivals Feyenoord and Ajax, Lucas Pratto suffered heartbreak after an unfortunate moment led to the forward’s ankle being fractured.

Pratto slid in on Davy Klaasen but with his left leg extending through and right foot being planted into the ground, the attacker’s right ankle ultimately ended up being bent 180 degrees.

De Telegraaf note that Pratto had to be carried off of the pitch after being left screaming in pain.

Feyenoord have since shared that a fracture was found upon his examination at the hospital, with the injury to be operated on later today.

January’s loan switch to Feyenoord is just the second transfer to a European club for the former Argentina international that has enjoyed success with several of South America’s biggest clubs.

Pratto turns 33 years old in less than a month’s time, if the ankle injury is found to be very serious, the forward’s career may well be at risk, considering how difficult it would be to recover at that age.

In the 86th minute of this afternoon’s Serie A encounter between AC Milan and Genoa, Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori put his body on the line to ensure the Rossoneri held on to all three points.

Soon-to-be free agent Gianluigi Donnarumma spilled a cross in a dangerous moment, leaving Valon Behrami to fire at goal, thankfully for Milan, Simon Kjaer was on hand block the effort.

The ball rattled straight back out to Genoa ace Andrea Masiello though, who drilled a first-time strike towards goal, Tomori slid down to block the effort before embracing centre-back partner Kjaer.

It’s no surprise to learn that Milan are planning to trigger the permanent option in 23-year-old’s loan contract, per Football Insider, after moments like this. Pure commitment from the Blues graduate.

There’s little doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo has got to the top of the footballing tree by being completely single minded and driven.

The Portuguese captain is still a physical marvel and shows no signs of slowing down both with his club, Juventus, or country.

He demands the best of himself so, naturally, will demand the same of his team-mates, but that intensity and focus sometimes goes beyond the bounds of acceptability.

The bianconeri won 3-1 against Genoa at the weekend, keeping them in third place and in the hunt for an automatic Champions League spot.

However, Ronaldo still wasn’t happy. Far from it in fact.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport and cited by the Daily Mirror, after throwing his shirt away at full-time, the No.7 punched a wall in the dressing room, before showering and leaving without saying a word.

His manager, Andrea Pirlo, offered up a flimsy excuse for Ronaldo’s petulant and pathetic behaviour.

“He was angry because he didn’t manage to score,” he was quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.

2021 and Cristiano Ronaldo continues to amaze, the 35-year-old rolled back the years to show that he’s still one of the best and most skilful dribblers around to craft a chance that Juventus scored from.

Ronaldo was only called off the bench in the 88th minute of the Old Lady’s Round of 16 Coppa Italia tie against Genoa, but played a key role in the Italian powerhouses snatching a winner in extra-time.

In the 103rd minute of the encounter, Ronaldo received the ball in the crowded box from Alvaro Morata, the superstar controlled the ball and used some smart dribbling and body feints to carry it out of the box – thereby protecting it from being snatched in the flooded penalty area.

Ronaldo then shuttled the ball between his feet as four Genoa players kept watch on him – three of which were close to the attacker.

The ex-Real Madrid and Manchester United star’s use of tidy ball rolls and finally a brilliant fake shot fooled all four of Genoa’s players trying to keep him at bay, as he slipped in Morata.

Morata then floated a ball into the middle of the area, with Hamza Rafia showing grit and a poacher’s mentality to collect the ball and drill it into back of the net on his professional debut.

Juventus have come away the winners at 3-2, with the side taking an early 2-0 lead before they collapsed to Genoa and had to secure their spot in the next round of the cup via extra-time.

Andrea Pirlo looked to the Portuguese superstar to provide the spark in extra-time and he certainly helped to do so, with Rafia capitalising on Ronaldo and Morata’s fine work to score a clutch winner.
