Celtic have taken the lead in their Champions League clash with Lazio thanks to a goal from Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Scottish champions would be considered the weakest team in their group but have made a promising start against Italian side Lazio.

The goal came after just 12 minutes as Kyogo was played through on goal and finished off the move with not the best of finishes.

The goalkeeper should have done better but that does not matter to the home side as an explosion of noise occurred as the Scottish giants went 1-0 ahead.

Inside Spain is a weekly instalment brought to you by Football España, providing an insight into all of the major stories coming out of the rich and intense climes of La Liga and beyond.

This week on Jude Bellingham-watch… Bellingham is the very best of Spanish football right now. Six goals, six games, and an assist to boot.

It’s been a week of good football in Spain, with Real Madrid maintaining their 100% record against first Real Sociedad and then Union Berlin. Just about making it through both, Rodrygo Goes was expected to be one of Bellingham’s chief partners in crime, but after six games, it hasn’t quite happened for him. The latest is that there is interest from the Premier League in finding Rodrygo a better fit.

Joao Felix could barely have wished for a better beginning to life in Barcelona. Two starts, two 5-0 wins, 3 goals and 1 assist in total. All of a sudden Xavi Hernandez’s side look like a top team with Felix, and Joao Cancelo, even if Real Betis and Royal Antwerp didn’t provide too much resistance. Felix has admitted he never clicked with Diego Simeone or at Chelsea, the question being asked in Barcelona is how long he can click with Barcelona.

Real Madrid go across town to face Atletico Madrid in the derby on Sunday night, and if it was on brand for Los Blancos to score a late winner, it was rather on brand for Atleti to concede a 94th-minute equaliser to Lazio’s goalkeeper Ivan Provedel.

Sevilla drew with Lens 1-1, and Real Sociedad by the same score with Inter. The latter will be the happier with their performance, who have been brilliant against Real Madrid and Inter, but struggle for effectiveness.

Away from football on the pitch, the Spain women’s side agreed to return to action after a seven-hour meeting that lasted until 5:00am, finally finding some common ground with the Federation on agreements to improve equality in sport and football. It seems no coincidence that General Secretary Andreu Camps, Luis Rubiales’ right-hand was sacked.

Finally, four Real Madrid players (three in the academy and one at Real Madrid C) were formally called to testify against allegations of distributing sexual content without consent, and distributing sexual content of a minor. One of the victims, given the name Sofia, gave an in-depth interview recounting the events, and declaring the players knew her friend was underage.

Former Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris could now potentially stay at the North London club despite having been linked with a move away all summer.

The 36-year-old has one year remaining on his current Spurs deal and according to RMC’s Fabrice Hawkins, the French goalkeeper has rejected the chance to join Serie A side Lazio.

The reporter goes on to say that Lloris is still open to offers from potential new clubs but has not ruled out the possibility of staying at Tottenham for the final year of his contract if the right team doesn’t come along.

Lloris was stripped of the Spurs captaincy by Ange Postecglou ahead of the new season as the Tottenham boss clearly expected the goalkeeper to leave. The 36-year-old has been replaced by Guglielmo Vicario as the North London club’s number one goalkeeper and it is hard to see that changing anytime soon.

The French star doesn’t have an exciting future at Tottenham if he stays, therefore, it is best that he tries to find a new club before the transfer window shuts.

The transfer window can be a trying time for every football player, manager and club, though one Tottenham man is set to re-open talks which could give him clarity over his future.

Even though the 2023/24 Premier League season will be almost four games old by the time the transfer window closes, there will still be moves made right up until the very last second as clubs try and secure a bargain or a player they’ve been tracking long-term.

Some deals fail at the last-minute of course. Who can forget the David De Gea to Real Madrid fax fiasco?!

For Spurs custodian, Hugo Lloris, the future looked bleak after he broke off discussions with Italian giants, Lazio, because it was believed that he wasn’t interested in having to fight for the No.1 jersey.

As a player that’s won the World Cup and had over 600 club appearances, one can understand why his ego may have taken a bit of a dent if the expectation was he might need to settle for being the No.2 on occasion.

However, according to Sky Sports Italy, the Serie A side have re-opened negotiations with Lloris, which would suggest that they’re willing to acceded to his demands.

With only 10 days left until the closure of the transfer window, all parties will need to work hard and fast to get the deal done, but where there’s a will, there’s a way.

If losing Harry Kane this summer wasn’t enough for Tottenham Hotspur, it now appears more than likely that they’re going to lose another club legend before the window closes for business on September 1.

Ange Postecoglou’s brief will likely have been to get Spurs back to playing a more fluid attacking game than that which both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte tried to implement.

The north Londoners are known for their passing, movement and free-flowing style, so it’s no wonder the Portuguese and Italian’s defensively minded set-ups never really worked at White Hart Lane.

Postecoglou clearly needs time to implement his preferred style and that may have been achieved a little easier with Kane in situ, however, that option is no longer open to him.

According to Gianluca di Marzio, fellow long-term Spurs employee, Hugh Lloris, is likely to follow him out of the exit door this summer, as Serie A giants, Lazio, seek an immediate replacement for Maximiano who has gone to Almeria.

The reliable journalist also notes that both Spurs and Lazio are already negotiating for Lloris’ departure, so one can infer that as long as talks go well, the former club captain could be leaving the north Londoners before their next Premier League game this weekend.

It will bring down the curtain on the Frenchman’s Tottenham career which began way back in 2012 when he signed from Lyon.

Fabrizio Romano has responded to the recent Arsenal transfer rumours linking them with a possible move for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow.

Writing in his exclusive column for CaughtOffside, Romano explained that there’s no final decision on Sow’s future yet, and suggested we’ll have to wait and see if the Gunners decide to join the race for the Switzerland international’s signature this summer.

Sow has impressed in his time in the Bundesliga and it seems he currently has interest from Sevilla and Lazio, while Romano has suggested Arsenal are currently happy to continue with Thomas Partey in that area of the pitch.

The north London giants have had a busy summer so far, bringing in Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz, so it remains to be seen how much more they can spend without selling first.

Sow doesn’t exactly look like he’d make sense as a priority, with Romano also providing an update on the club’s pursuit of Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

Who could Arteta bring to Arsenal this summer?

“Some fans have asked me about reports in Italy on Djibril Sow, but my understanding is that no decision has been made by Sow yet,” Romano said.

“Lazio and Sevilla are insisting for him, let’s see if Arsenal decide to enter the race, but at the moment they’re happy with Thomas Partey staying.”

On Raya, he said: “For Arsenal, they had positive conversations on the player side – Raya wants the move and prefers Arsenal over Bayern, so now it’s important to understand how much Arsenal want to invest in a new goalkeeper, and how much they get from Matt Turner possibly going to Nottingham Forest – the domino is starting and I think this week will be crucial to understand how it could be completed.”
