Leicester City are reportedly emerging as the strongest contenders to seal the transfer of Hellas Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo.

The Foxes could do with a long-term successor to Kasper Schmeichel, who has been missed since he left the club for Nice last summer.

Montipo has shone in Serie A and looks like a good option for Leicester, with the club supposedly now in pole position to win the race for his signature, according to a report in the Leicester Mercury.

Arsenal will be in the market for a striker this summer, after they recently announced the departure of Alexandre Lacazette.

The French striker left on a free transfer, and with Eddie Nketiah the only recognised striker remaining at Arsenal, it’s no surprise to see them targeting an additional forward.

Fabrizio Romano told CaughtOffside that Arsenal are attempting to sign Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus, but he’s not the only man on their wishlist.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Arsenal and Juventus are set to battle it out for Cagliari striker Giovanni Simeone. The Argentine striker is currently on loan at Hellas Verona, who have an option to buy Simeone on a permanent deal.

Verona are expected to exercise their option to buy the 26-year-old, but the plan is to sell him for a quick profit.

It’s believed he would cost in the region of €20m, and he could be a useful addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad. Simeone scored 17 league goals last season, and with Arsenal needing at least one striker, he could be brought in to fight it out with another recruit.

A seven-goal thriller in Serie A on Sunday had absolutely everything.

Lowly Venezia were hosting Verona, and roared into a 3-0 first-half lead inside 27 minutes.

A Thomas Henry own goal on 52 minutes seemed little more than a consolation for the visitors, but Pietro Ceccaroni’s sending off 10 minutes later changed the course of the game.

Within five minutes of going down to 10 men, Venezia had seen their lead wiped out. That set the stage for a late winner, and what a winner it was.

Gio Simeone picked up the ball just outside the box and took aim, finding the top corner with a sensational finish.

In the 49th minute of this afternoon’s Serie A encounter between AC Milan and Verona, an opportunity was sparked when Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori played the ball out of the back to Rade Krunic.

The Bosnian ace shuttled the ball forward to Alexis Saelemaekers, who drove forward before slotting it towards the edge of the area, where Rafael Leao dummied the ball to leave it for Diogo Dalot.

Dalot, a loanee from Manchester United, showed some brilliant attacking quality as he shimmed the ball away from a defender, carrying it into the box, before firing the ball straight into the top corner.

This was a truly amazing finish from the marauding full-back, the Verona goalkeeper didn’t even bother moving, there was no chance of stopping a strike like this.

According to Goal via Gazzetta di Parma, former Juventus, Roma and Inter star Luigi Sartor has been arrested after being found to grow 106 plants of Marijuana in an abandoned farmhouse in Parma.

It’s reported that 46-year-old Sartor, who also represented Vicenza, Parma, Verona and the Italian national team, is now under house arrest.

Goal report that the former full-back was responsible for the growing of the Marijuana, with estimations deeming that the plants found could’ve yielded around two kilograms of drug.

It’s added that investigators had been keeping a close eye on the activity at the property for some time, especially as the doubling of the power to the electrical meter was requested.

The report details that the internal lighting used to cultivate the crop could also be seen from outside, as well as the smell of Marijuana being detected.

It’s stated that agents unearthed their latest clue around 10 days ago, when a routine stop of Sartor whilst driving alluded to the smell of Marijuana from inside the car.

It’s been a summer with numerous transfer rumours that just haven’t gone anywhere at all, but it’s clear that both Man United and Spurs need to find some reinforcements this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer found out last season that he could only really trust his starting XI, while he’s yet to find the perfect partner for Harry Maguire in the defence.

Spurs have lost some key players and Jose Mourinho loves to add his own players to every squad anyway. so you have to think that they will add some players soon.

The rumours about a move for Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla only emerged a couple of days ago, but it’s the kind of signing that would make sense.

He’s only 20 but he’s got experience in Serie A and he’s broken into the Albania senior team, so he’s a raw talent who could be developed into a key starter for the future.

It’s always possible those rumours were simply spread by an agent or even the club in an attempt to force some interest, but both sides will need to hurry up if they are interested after the latest reports from Italy:

It’s suggested that Roma have agreed a fee with Hellas so it’s now a case of agreeing terms with the player, but it’s a clear step up for him so it’s hard to see them having problems there.

For United and Spurs he might not be seen as a priority just now, but his price tag will only shoot up if he goes to Roma and does well.
