The decision to award Saudi Arabia the tournament was met with a lot of questions regarding human rights issues, which was similar to that in 2022 as Qatar hosted the World’s biggest sports competition.

According to Insidethegames, FIFA has been accused by Human Rights Watch of ignoring its own rules through its process for awarding the 2030 and 2034 World Cups.

They believe that FIFA set it up for the Saudis to win by setting a tight deadline of October 31 for countries to register interest in hosting the 2034 World Cup, and ruled it can only be held in Asia or Oceania. Therefore, Saudi Arabia became the only country to bid for the 2034 tournament.

This is an issue that will not go away in the lead-up to the tournament in 11 years’ time as it is a major question that once again needs to be answered by football’s governing body.

Chelsea host Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup last 16 on Wednesday night and Mauricio Pochettino has stated that one of his best players is set to return to the starting 11.

Club captain Reece James has not started a match for the Blues since August after picking up an injury in the first game of the season against Liverpool but Pochettino has said that the full-back will start against Blackburn on Wednesday.

Speaking about his team selection at his press conference on Tuesday, Pochettino discussed James’ return and stated via the Evening Standard: “I can confirm he is going to start.

“The captain is ready. It’s good for the team, it’s good for him to start from the beginning. We can see after, checking always how he is performing.”

This season has not gone the way Aaron Ramsdale expected before a ball was kicked and with the England star now the number two goalkeeper at Arsenal, could he leave in January?

The 25-year-old is behind David Raya in Mikel Arteta’s pecking order and it doesn’t look like Ramsdale will be getting his starting spot back anytime soon.

With the Euros happening next summer, sitting on the bench at the Emirates will not help his chances of making the England squad for the tournament in Germany, but the Gunners will not want to let him go midway through the season.

Transfer expert Ben Jacobs has now given his thoughts on Ramsdale’s situation ahead of the January transfer window.

Speaking on the latest episode of CaughtOffside’s The Debrief podcast, Jacobs states that Arteta and Arsenal will fight to keep Ramsdale in January and although a move is unlikely, the situation is an intriguing one.

“Arteta made a number of changes [against Sheffield United], Emile Smith Rowe made his first start of the season; at the same time, Eddie Nketiah got game time, Jakub Kiwior played, and yet David Raya was the goalkeeper,” the transfer expert said.

“If I am Ramsdale, that underlines something he has known for a while. Even if Arteta repeatedly says there is healthy competition, there is a clear number one at Arsenal and it is not Aaron Ramsdale.

“As far as January is concerned, I still think it is going to be quite difficult for any clubs. We hear a lot about Chelsea, but Arsenal will not want to lose a player like Ramsdale, who is a positive influence even when he is not playing midway through the season.

“Of course, there will be rumours, of course, there will be interest, of course, there will be enquiries, but I think Arsenal will do everything they possibly can to hang on to Ramsdale and they may need him.

Man United host rivals Man City in the Manchester derby on Sunday and ahead of the big match, Marcus Rashford has picked his all-time favourite goal from the Red Devils’ history.

The United forward sat down with rapper Aitch, who is also a Man United fan, and the two discussed their favourite Man United goal of all time, with the pair picking the same one.

There have been some huge goals in the history of the Premier League giants, from Solskjaer’s winner in the 1999 Champions League final to Scholes’ screamer against Barcelona in 2008, but Rashford’s favourite ever goal is Wayne Rooney’s overhead kick against Man City during the 2011 Manchester derby.

Arsenal have made a decision on the future of Aaron Ramsdale as Mikel Arteta will not allow the goalkeeper to leave the club in the January transfer window.

The England star was a key player for the Gunners as they pushed for the Premier League title last season but the current campaign has seen the 25-year-old removed from Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven by summer signing David Raya – who has started each of the last eight games in the Premier League and Europe.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are aware of the growing issue and the increased scrutiny surrounding their goalkeeper spot as Raya has not been convincing since taking over from Ramsdale.

This opens up an opportunity for the Englishman to get his spot back and only time will tell if he can do it.

Jadon Sancho looks set to leave Man United in January and Saudi Arabia is currently seen as the destination the winger will most likely end up at.

The Englishman is currently exiled from the Man United first team by Erik ten Hag following the pair’s falling out after the Red Devil’s Arsenal defeat in early September and it has been widely reported that the 23-year-old will leave Old Trafford in January.

Borussia Dortmund and Juventus have been two clubs linked to the Man United star but Laurie Whitwell is reporting that the Saudi Arabia route is seen as the most plausible option for the player in January because European teams will struggle to match his wages of more than £200,000-a-week.
