Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the surprise January move for the Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.

The 23-year-old is struggling for game time at Old Trafford and he could leave the club in January. As per Fichajes, Tottenham could look to make a move for him and it remains to be seen whether they can agree on a deal with Manchester United.

The winger has not been able to live up to the expectations since his £73 million move to Manchester United and the Red Devils might look to cut their losses on him.

Antony has underperformed for the Red Devils as well and it is evident that Manchester United need to bring in attacking reinforcements in January. Investing the proceeds from Sancho’s departure into another attacker could prove to be a wise decision.

Meanwhile, Tottenham need more depth in the wide areas, especially after the injuries to Ivan Perisic and Manor Solomon.

Ange Postecoglou’s attacking system has proven to be a major hit so far and Tottenham are on top of the league table. However, they will need more depth in the side in order to sustain their current run of form.

The latest regarding his situation at Carrington comes from Man United journalist Laurie Whitwell, who reports that Sancho is prohibited from using Manchester United’s first-team canteen.

Instead, his food is brought to him in a lunch box across the walkway at the club’s training facility, which seems a little harsh on the winger.

Sancho has previously stated that he did not want to move to the Middle East given the fact that he is still only 23 but that may be his only option if he wants to play football during the first half of 2024.

The other option would be to lower his wage demands as climbing back up the football ladder should be seen as more important at this stage in his career.

The money will come back to him if he rediscovers the form he showed a Dortmund and that may go unnoticed by European clubs if he chooses to move to Saudi Arabia.

However, still with two months to go before the mid-season window opens, United’s number 25 must wait to learn his fate, and in the meantime, according to a recent report from The Athletic, his day-to-day activities have not been made easy.

It has been claimed that Sancho, who has been banished and forced to either train alone or with the academy players, is no longer allowed to dine with his senior teammates.

Staff members are said to bring the former Borussia Dortmund ace his lunch in a lunchbox from the communal canteen.

Not only does this gesture see Ten Hag exert his authority, but it almost certainly signals the end of Sancho’s time at Old Trafford.

Seemingly refusing to back down and apologise to his manager, Sancho is now a strong candidate to be offloaded in the January transfer window.

And while the winger is likely to have multiple admirers, his wages, which, according to Spotrac, are £250,000-per week, will prove a stumbling block for most clubs.

However, one team, according to The Athletic, that could be an option for the 23-year-old is Todd Boehly’s Chelsea. Not only do the Blues have the financial power to outmuscle clubs from abroad, but their London-based location makes for an ideal destination.

A snippet from their report on Thursday says: “…some in the industry believe Sancho’s connections to London, the city he grew up in, make Chelsea a possible option,”

Whether or not Chelsea, who are contending with their own problems, would be willing to offer the troubled star a career lifeline remains to be seen though.

Real Madrid are keeping an eye on Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo as a potential transfer target for the future, despite links with Manchester United.

That’s according to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano in the latest edition of his exclusive column for the Daily Briefing, with the journalist also stating his opinion that Kubo is a top talent who could do a job for a bigger club, even if nothing is likely to happen imminently.

Man Utd could do with a replacement for Jadon Sancho as it looks like he’ll surely be leaving Old Trafford this January, but it remains to be seen if Kubo will be a realistic target for the Red Devils.

The talented young Japan international surely has a big future at the highest level of the game, but Real Madrid already seem to have earmarked him as someone who could be worth looking at.
