Speaking on the latest episode of CaughtOffside’s The Debrief podcast, Jacobs states that Tottenham may try and bring in a box-to-box midfielder during the winter transfer window.

“I wonder if Spurs will move in January if they feel that they are in the mix for the Premier League or to consolidate the Champions League,” Jacobs said.

“Son has assumed the Harry Kane role but if his goals dry up, you start looking at Richarlison and Brennan Johnson to weigh in. That is where one more creative-minded player might be quite important to Tottenham.

“In January, I can see them going for a box-to-box midfielder, capable of playing a disciplined role in central midfield but also breaking forward and scoring, like Odegaard at Arsenal.

“Tottenham looked at Conor Gallagher but they didn’t like the price, but that kind of profile might be something Tottenham explore.”

Dejan Kulusevski loves working under Ange Postecoglou.

Speaking recently about what it is like to play for the likeable Aussie, Kulusevski, 23, revealed how the entire Spurs squad are ‘really enjoying’ what he has described as ‘funny’ training sessions.

“Postecoglou, excellent manager. He speaks about life stories, not just football,” the Sweden international said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“It was clear already in pre-season, training sessions under Ange are funny and we work a lot with the ball, we press a lot. But also, we learn from him. We’re really enjoying.”

Despite fan backlash at the prospect of his appointment earlier in the summer, Postecoglou has been a revelation.

Not only are the Lilywhites top of the Premier League table on 26 points after 10 games, but they’re also unbeaten and looking like genuine title contenders. A remarkable start to the campaign considering they lost Harry Kane to Bayern Munich before a competitive ball was kicked.

At present, Tottenham Hotspur seem to be getting along just fine without a traditional centre-forward, with the loss of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich not affecting them at all.

Ange Postecoglou has had a brilliant start to his managerial career in the Premier League and after the Friday night win over Crystal Palace, the Australian could celebrate going five points clear at the top with his players.

Still unbeaten, Spurs are playing some sparkling stuff, and there’s a real feel good factor surrounding the club at present. Much of that has to be attributed to Postecoglou and the way he wants his teams to play.

Santiago Gimenez could leave Feyenoord

There will still be room for improvement and tweaks to be made, and the north Londoners have been following one player in particular for a while now.

Twenty-two year old Santiago Gimenez has been on fire for Feyenoord this season, and he already has 18 goals in 13 games in all competitiions according to WhoScored.

That sort of form has seen Europe’s best sniffing around too, and something could happen regarding a transfer in January according to CaughtOffside columnist, Fabrizio Romano.

‘What I can tell you after speaking to direct sources is Santiago Giménez has no agent or intermediary, there is no one taking care of his business other than his father – it’s important to verify that,’ he wrote in his exclusive Daily Briefing.

‘From what I’m hearing, something around €45m could be the right fee to get a deal done, so let’s see if that’s in the January window or in the summer.

‘Tottenham scouts have been following the player since last year and surely he’s interesting for them – but also for many other clubs around Europe. This is why decisions will be made in the next month but, at the moment, no statement from the player’s father on this.’

Given their current position and way of playing, Tottenham will surely be a very attractive proposition for the youngster, and their attentiveness towards him over the past few months may seal the deal in their favour.

Spurs have made two changes from the side that beat Fulham 2-0 on Monday night, with Yves Bissouma returning to the side from suspension to replace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and the injured Destiny Udogie being replaced by Ben Davies at left back.

Tottenham also welcome Rodrigo Bentancur back to the bench after his sustained period on the sidelines through injury.

The rest of the side stays the same from the team that beat Fulham, with Vicario, Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Sarr, Maddison, Kulusevski, Son and Richarlison all keeping their spots.

Tottenham set to lose out on highly-rated EPL star after surprise u-turn

Although they’re sat proudly atop the Premier League and playing some of their best football in years, Tottenham Hotspur are seemingly not an attractive enough proposition for one English top-flight defender after he made a stunning u-turn.

It’s believed that Spurs had earmarked Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo as a new signing, with the player seemingly set to leave the Cottagers, who had also received a confirmed £8.5m offer from Monaco for his services.

However, according to the Evening Standard, the player has now decided to stay in west London after coach, Marco Silva, himself the subject of intense speculation amidst a bid for him to manage in the Saudi Pro League, put pen to paper on a new deal at Craven Cottage.

It’s a big win for Fulham given that, at 26 years of age, Adarabioyo is approaching his prime years as a football player.

For Ange Postecoglou, who already has the excellent Micky van der Ven in situ, he will have to look elsewhere should he feel that his back line could still benefit from having a player with Adarabioyo’s skill set.

Given how well the Lilywhites have started the 2023/24 campaign, however, the Australian may feel that a tweak here or there is unnecessary in January as it could upset dressing room equilibrium.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham side sit on top of the Premier League following their unbeaten start to the season and the Australian coach has sent a warning to their title rivals.

After nine matches, Spurs have won seven and drawn two, and are currently two points ahead of Premier League champions Man City and bitter rivals Arsenal.

The North London club have been firing on all cylinders as Postecoglou has his team operating at a high level and have achieved some huge results already this season.

Tottenham will look to continue their run with a win over Crystal Palace on Friday night and ahead of that match, the Spurs boss has sent a warning to their title rivals.

Ange Postecoglou has Tottenham on top of the league

Speaking at his press conference this week, Postecoglou stated that Tottenham still have huge room for improvement going forward and will only get better as the season progresses.

“We still have to grow in every area,” Postecoglou said on Thursday via the Evening Standard. “There are areas where we are already very good, particularly around the defensive side of the game. I think we’ve been excellent there, really consistent.

“I said after the game on Monday night [a 2-0 win over Fulham] that that’s what won us the game. To work really hard and press the opposition and be really disciplined and committed to forcing oppositions into mistakes. That’s been really good and really pleasing for me.

“I still think our main growth will come in the attacking side of the game. I still think particularly in the front third, a lot of our movements are still not natural and fluent like we want them to be, which isn’t surprising. But what is getting us the goals is that we have great quality up there, which is contributing to that. But I still think the biggest growth for us will be in our attacking side of the game.”
