John Terry has admitted that he never thought Mohamed Salah would go on to achieve what he has while he was starting out at Chelsea.

The Egyptian winger will go down as one of the greatest players in the history of the Premier League after what he has accomplished at Liverpool.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for Salah in England, after starting out at Chelsea he found it difficult to nail down a spot in the team.

Rejected by the Blues, the 31-year-old moved to Roma where he would impress before returning to English football with Liverpool.

Salah has been nothing short of sensational since and speaking on the Obi One podcast, Terry admitted that he regrets not giving him and Kevin De Bruyne more attention.

“Absolutely not, no chance. It’s my one disappointment as captain” Terry said when asked did he envisage the two players would achieve what they have via TBR Football.

“I softened as the years went on, but when those guys were there I was very disciplined in the group and very strong.

John Terry has stated that he ‘doesn’t agree’ with a penalty being awarded against William Saliba after his handball.

Chelsea threw away a two-goal lead in dramatic fashion late on against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men conceded two goals inside the last 15 minutes, courtesy of Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard in a game which they should’ve won.

Cole Palmer opened the scoring for his side in the first half from the spot after the referee deemed Saliba’s handball a penalty.

The French defender had his head down while challenging Mykhailo Mudryk as the Ukrainian’s header hit his arm from close range.

Chelsea legend, Terry, took to Twitter to give his opinion on the call.

Delighted we got the Penalty but I don’t agree with the rules on this, very harsh on defenders.
I would have been fuming if that was given against me back in the day. But happy now

The penalty was very similar to one given earlier in the day against Everton in their Merseyside derby loss to Liverpool.

News that the club stalwart wants to buy a 10 percent stake in the west London outfit might raise a few eyebrows, but it will almost certainly be universally welcomed by the Stamford Bridge faithful.

There’s a long, long way to go before any deal is likely to be brokered, however.

According to The Telegraph (subscription required), Terry is part of a group that would have to secure fan investment through the online technology platform PrimaryBid in order to be able to get the amount required to get current owner Todd Boehly interested.

The co-founder and chief executive of PrimaryBid is Anand Sambasivan who just so happens to be a season-ticket holder at Chelsea.

There surely has to be question marks over any deal that would require the investment of supporters to help get it over the line though.

There are already enough blurred lines in Chelsea’s current ownership model, and they can ill afford any more scrutiny from the Premier League and various authorities.

Speaking to talkSPORT about the current Chelsea manager, Terry said: “I love Poch, I’ve met him a couple of times and had the privilege to be around him at the training ground. He works the players very hard, tactically amazing and I think given time, he’s definitely the right man for the job.”

The Chelsea legend added: “We’ve seen over the years with his experience with him and what he’s done previously, we are a young squad, they’ve literally just been thrown together, haven’t they?

“There’s a lot of talent there, we’ve had a few injuries as well not go our way, so listen there is loads of football to be played this season, but hopefully exciting stuff.

“And this year, I can see it as more of a kind of blending together and then we will see where we go next season.”

Several senior Chelsea players wanted Mason Mount to stay at the club this summer amid ongoing speculation about the real reason he left the club to join rivals Manchester United.

According to Ben Jacobs, writing in his exclusive CaughtOffside column, Mount was not short of fans and supporters inside the Stamford Bridge dressing room, but it remains something of a mystery why his relationship with the Blues board fell apart.

Mount was a key player for a number of years at Chelsea, leading club legend John Terry to call on fans to go easy on him when he plays against them for Man Utd.

Terry rather intriguingly claimed he knows something that’s not been made public about Mount’s exit, and Jacobs has provided some insight into what the former England captain could mean.

Writing in today’s column on the Daily Briefing Substack, Jacobs did his best to provide both Chelsea’s perspective on Mount’s exit, as well as what the player’s side feels went wrong.

“Former Chelsea captain John Terry has suggested in the last few days that there is an ‘untold’ story to Mason Mount’s Chelsea departure,” Jacobs wrote.

“‘Mase is proper Chels through and through,’ said Terry during his one-man tour. ‘There’s always two sides to a story and I know the other side to it. I’m not going to air that but there’s another side to the story. Let’s not be too harsh on him when he comes back.’

“Chelsea’s position is that Mount wanted to leave and thus made it clear he wouldn’t sign a new long-term deal. But the Mount camp tell a slightly different story. They argue verbal talks last year with Chelsea’s owners were positive and progress had been made. Then in January, they claim goalposts moved. Chelsea’s co-sporting director Paul Winstanley took over negotiations and offered a short-term contract instead.

“Chelsea sources maintain the aim was to get Mount to extend and protect his value, buying time to ultimately find a long-term solution that suited all parties. This is again disputed by those close to Mount, who argue a lot of hard work done in late 2022 was undone almost overnight and with very little two-way conversation.

“The reality is the parties were far apart on terms and contract length and although they agreed to pick things up again at the end of the season, when Mount left for Manchester United he didn’t have a new Chelsea counter on the table to consider.

“Chelsea sources insist this was because it was clear Mount wanted to leave. The Mount side say they would have considered staying if they club made clear and formal attempts to try and keep the England midfielder.

“The saga definitely has two sides and now Mount has moved to Old Trafford we may never know the truth. Chelsea will always say they sold a player who wanted a new challenge that was right for him and his family, and Mount can’t really state he would have preferred to stay at Stamford Bridge now that he’s a Manchester United player.

“So both sides have to just move on. And it’s worth pointing out there’s still great respect for Mount at Chelsea, and several senior players desperately wanted him to stay.”

Chelsea legend John Terry has praised Mason Mount and called on the club’s fans not to be too harsh on him after his controversial transfer to rivals Manchester United this summer.

The England international came up through Chelsea’s academy and looked like he could be a club legend in the making, but he surprisingly ended up leaving for Man Utd this season after failing to agree a new contract with the Blues.

Still, Terry has hinted there’s more to this story than has been reported, as he insists there’s another side to it and he won’t currently be revealing details about it.

Chelsea legends beat Bayern Munich legends 4-0 in a charity match earlier today.

The match was marked by memorable goals, with Essien scoring the opener with a brilliant header.

And Terry scored the second. In a moment that brought back memories for Chelsea fans, Terry intercepted the ball and made a determined run into the penalty box. He received the pass back from Florent Malouda and calmly slotted the ball into an open net.

Gary Cahill and Tiago added to the goal tally, sealing a comprehensive win for the Chelsea legends.

Chelsea legend John Terry is set to make the move to Saudi Arabia, taking over Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab.

According to The Sun, Terry was approached a few months ago by Al Shabab, and the deal has already been verbally agreed. His initial contract offer was for at least two years, however it is reported that it could rise to four years, should the deal be finalised.

This would be his first managerial job, having worked with the Chelsea academy and as part of Dean Smith’s Aston Villa coaching staff and his Leicester coaching staff, since retiring from his playing career in 2018.

Terry enjoyed an illustrious 20 year playing career, making 530 appearances, 492 of which came for Chelsea, 32 for Aston Villa in the final season of his playing career, and then 6 appearances for Nottingham Forest in 2000, on loan from Chelsea.

This move would see Terry leave the Chelsea academy set up, where he had been working as a consultant this year.

In his time at Chelsea as a player, Terry won five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, two Community Shields, the UEFA Europa League, and of course the UEFA Champions League in 2012.

He was also awarded with Chelsea player of the year twice, the PFA Players’ Player of the year award once, was named in the PFA Team of the Year four times and named in the FIFA FIFPro World XI five times.

One player that always impressed during his playing days at Stamford Bridge was ‘captain fantastic’ John Terry.

The centre-back always led by example and, along with the likes of Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba et al, was one of the leading lights of the Jose Mourinho era.

After some time spent away from the club Terry has now returned, and as he noted on his official Twitter account, he was delighted to be back home.

He’ll work with the Chelsea Academy at this point, though supporters will surely be hoping that he eventually makes his way to the first-team backroom staff at some point.

After a poor 2022/23 campaign by their standards, Leicester City begin their new season in the Championship.

Often known as the most difficult league in the world to get out of, whomever is at the helm at the beginning of the campaign needs to hit the ground running and propel the Foxes towards the top of the table.

That’s where they need to stay for the majority of the campaign, and in order to be one of the front runners of the division, they’ll need a manager with a strong work ethic, experience at the highest level and be someone who commands respect.

Though his last managerial position ended in disaster, Steven Gerrard has become a front runner for the Leicester vacancy according to The Sun.

Footy Stats note the former Aston Villa and Rangers manager’s stats to be a win percentage of 59% across his managerial career, and Leicester clearly feel that that warrants giving Gerrard serious consideration of nothing else.

Whether the Midlands-based outfit’s supporters will look upon that particular appointment favourably, should it occur, is a moot point at this stage.
