Tottenham are interested in signing Inter Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu to reinforce and complete their midfield.

Ange Postecoglou has revolutionised the North London side in such a short space of time as they currently sit top of the Premier League after 10 games played.

The summer signing of James Maddison from Leicester City seems to have been a masterstroke by the club as he has shown that he can perform at the highest level consistently, making an instant impact to help the club climb to the top of the table.

Alongside Yves Bissouma, the pair make a formidable partnership in the middle of the park but Postecoglou still wants to add another midfielder.

According to reports from InterLive, Calhanoglu is viewed as the perfect man to come in and complete the midfield.

At 29, Inter Milan will reportedly demand in the region of £43m from Spurs if they do enter the market from him in either the winter or summer transfer windows.

Although West Ham haven’t made a single signing in this summer’s transfer window so far, if they’re able to land one £50m-rated midfielder that played in last season’s Champions League final, surely everything will be forgiven as far as the supporters are concerned.

After winning the Europa Conference League it appeared as though the Hammers could use that era-defining victory as a platform to finally move forward as a club rather than being one of London’s and the Premier League’s also-rans.

However, the east Londoners have quickly reverted to type and are, for all intents and purposes, well behind their rivals in the English top-flight in terms of bringing in new faces and ensuring an evolution of the team from last season.

It appears that more people want to leave than want to join, and rumours that Lucas Paqueta may also be allowed to go has seen West Ham linked with Inter Milan’s playmaking star, Hakan Calhanoglou.

Spazio Inter report that the nerazzurri could be willing to play ball with the Hammers if they were to offer £50m for the 29-year-old’s services. That’s despite the report also noting that the player is a vital cog in the wheel for Simone Inzhagi.

Clearly, that sort of money would be difficult for the club to turn down, though with so much apparently disarray at the Hammers just now, it’s difficult to imagine why the player would want to go there.

West Ham are reportedly eyeing a sensational move to sign Inter Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu, as per Italian outlet Spazio Inter.

West Ham have identified Calhanoglu as one of the potential replacements for Declan Rice, who recently made a high-profile move to Arsenal for £105 million.

The report suggests that Inter Milan would be willing to sell Calhanoglu for a fee of €50 million.

The Turkish international joined Inter from AC Milan in 2021 on a free transfer and has since been a key player for the club, contributing with 12 goals and 21 assists in 95 appearances.

If West Ham manages to secure the signing of Calhanoglu, it would be a significant coup for the club, especially after losing their star midfielder Rice to Arsenal. The Hammers have also been linked with other midfield targets such as Conor Gallagher, James Ward-Prowse, and Scott McTominay.

With the new season just two weeks away, West Ham will be keen to swiftly find a suitable replacement for Rice to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

AC Milan

Official, confirmed by club statement: AC Milan have fired Paolo Maldini – he’s no longer their director. The club has decided to sack Ricky Massara and legend Paolo Maldini to begin a new era with a new vision for the club.

Christian Pulisic is expected to leave this summer as Chelsea are open to letting him go. AC Milan are among the clubs interested in Pulisic. He was mentioned in recent talks held with Chelsea. For now, however, talks over Ruben Loftus-Cheek are on stand-by after Maldini’s sacking.

Al Hilal

Sources close to Al Hilal have denied that they’ve made an improved proposal to Lionel Messi. It’s still the same bid on the table that they made to the player back in April — close to €1B package salary for two years. Messi’s still waiting to make a final decision. For more exclusive info on his situation, click here to read yesterday’s guest column from Ben Jacobs.

Al Ittihad

Official: Karim Benzema has signed for Al Ittihad on a two year deal with the option for a further season. Benzema will earn almost €200m per season net salary, commercial deals included.

Al Ittihad delegation has presented an official bid to N’Golo Kante and his camp. Al Ittihad are confident of getting the green light soon. The deal is worth €100m inclusive of the image rights, commercial deals and a creative ‘investment portfolio’.

Arsenal

Reiss Nelson is now very close to agreeing a new contract with Arsenal. There has been interest from other clubs in England and Europe, but he’s now edging closer to accepting the offer of four years plus the option of one more to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

Reiss Nelson of Arsenal

Barcelona

Xavi on the latest on Lionel Messi: “Messi has the frying pan by it’s handle — it’s up to him. The situation is in the hands of Laporta and Jorge Messi, we’ll see how it ends.”

Inigo Martinez has just confirmed that he’s set to leave Athletic Club, and he will soon be announced as Barcelona’s first signing. A deal has been in place since March, while Martinez signed official documents in May. He’s signed a contract that will be valid until June 2025.

Gavi has been officially registered by La Liga, never been in doubt on Barcelona and player side despite some rumours of a potential free transfer to Premier League clubs. His new deal is valid until June 2026 with a release clause of €1bn.

Benfica

Angel Di Maria is now officially available as free agent. Benfica are dreaming of Di Maria’s return after his departure from Juventus, but there are several options available to him, and no decision yet. It’s an open race for his signature.

Borussia Monchengladbach

Official: Gerardo Seoane has been now appointed as new Borussia Monchengladbach head coach, signing a contract until 2026.

Brighton

Brighton are preparing a club-record bid for Levi Colwill worth close to £40m to be submitted soon. Chelsea turned down an offer of £30m last week. Chelsea have always had the same position: Colwill is part of long term project and they have no intention of selling him.

Celtic

Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley is attracting interest from clubs in England and Germany — with Brighton being one of the teams considering him for this summer. Decision time in the next days/weeks, waiting for concrete proposals.

Chelsea

Chelsea and Kai Havertz are on same page: the club are prepared to let him leave — while Havertz is open to trying new chapter elsewhere. Chelsea hope for more clubs to join the race for the German forward soon after Real Madrid registered their interest last week.

Chelsea have no plan to sell Levi Colwill, having already turned down £30m from Brighton for the defender. Brighton are now set to try again with a club-record £40m offer.

Chelsea are set to escalate talks over an alternative to Manuel Ugarte – click here to find out more!

Crystal Palace

Wilfried Zaha has not agreed terms with Al Nassr at this stage. The Saudi club has approached him but nothing done. Zaha’s priority seems to be to remain in Europe, and he’s attracting strong interest from Champions League clubs.

Crystal Palace are set to sign Jefferson Lerma. The Colombian’s free transfer from Bournemouth has been completed, documents are sealed on a deal until 2027.

Inter Milan

Hakan Calhanoglu on his future: “I’m gonna stay and extend my contract at Inter. I’ve no intention to leave the club, I’m very happy here.”

The Turkish midfielder has already signed a new contract valid until 2027, which will be officially confirmed after the Champions League final.

Liverpool

Alexis Mac Allister has completed his medical with Liverpool and is set to sign his contract today! He’ll put pen to paper on a deal until 2028.

Liverpool have been in direct contact with the agents of both Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram this week. Internal talks are taking place over official proposals. Liverpool have asked for some time to finalise the Alexis Mac Allister deal and then they’ll decide on further signings in midfield.

Manchester United

Manchester United are preparing for several key departures this summer. Wout Weghorst will be one, there is no intention to keep him after his loan. Everton and Spanish clubs are interested in the Burnley striker.

Harry Maguire is another player to keep an eye on – clubs were interested in January but Erik ten Hag said no at the time. Still, the feeling now is that the best solution is for him to leave this summer. There will be a meeting next week, but the idea is for Maguire to leave the club.

Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to sign Dean Henderson on a permanent transfer after his loan at the City Ground. Terms have almost been agreed also on the player side. Manchester United, however, are not ready to give their final green light until David de Gea signs new deal.

Donny van de Beek will explore options on the market in the next weeks as he could leave Manchester United. Donny loves the club and is a big fan of Erik ten Hag, but he needs and wants to play more regularly next season. He should also be ready for pre-season after his long injury layoff.

Diogo Costa quotes after winning Taca de Portugal Final last weekend: “Man United deal? This is the internet…I love Porto — it’s the club of my life. I would give my life for it.”

Marseille

Saudi club Al Fateh have now submitted an official proposal to Alexis Sanchez. €10m salary per season has been offered to Marseille’s Chilean forward. The contract would be valid until 2024 with the option for a further season.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to sign Dean Henderson on a permanent transfer after his loan at the City Ground. Terms have almost been agreed also on the player side. Manchester United, however, are not ready to give their final green light until David de Gea signs new deal.

PSG

Christophe Galtier is set to be sacked by PSG, with Julian Nagelsmann currently their priority target and a concrete option to replace him. The Ligue 1 giants are working on bringing in the former Bayern Munich boss, who was also linked with Chelsea and Tottenham jobs in recent months.

Paris Saint-Germain interest in Marcus Thuram is concrete. He’s one of the names on the list at PSG. He’s available on a free this summer, and talks will follow soon. There are more clubs in the race, but not AC Milan or Atletico Madrid as things stand, despite reports to the contrary.

Real Madrid

Karim Benzema: “It really hurts… it’s not easy, I really wanted to retire here but sometimes directions change. I’ll always be watching Madrid games and I will always support Real Madrid, the best club in the world.”

Chelsea and Kai Havertz are on same page: the club are prepared to let him leave — while Havertz is open to trying new chapter elsewhere. Chelsea hope for more clubs to join the race for the German forward soon after Real Madrid registered their interest last week.

Real Madrid’s plan is to present Brahim Diaz as their new signing already next week — first step is extending the contract until 2027, then to ‘unveil’ Brahim.

Real Madrid have sent documents to Nacho in order to tie him down to a new short term contract in the next hours. Nacho has told Inter Milan he won’t be joining them. He’s staying with Real Madrid until 2024.

Roma

AS Roma are prepared to unveil Houssem Aouar as their first summer signing on free transfer from Lyon. The Frenchman will sign a five-year deal, which was agreed in principle last month.

AS Roma have offered a five year deal to Evan Ndicka to join on free transfer this summer. Talks are ongoing for the Eintracht Frankfurt defender.

Sevilla

Official: Jose Luis Mendilibar has signed a new contract at Sevilla valid until June 2024. The club extended his contract for one more year after their Europa League win.

Tottenham

Officially confirmed yesterday: Ange Postecoglou is the new Tottenham manager, joining on a deal valid until June 2027.

Daniel Levy: “Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play. He understands the importance of the link from the academy, crucial for the club.”

Rennes director Maurice announces that Joe Rodon will return to Tottenham as “buy option clause won’t be triggered. As for Joe, there is a very high purchase option. Evidently, it won’t be possible for us to raise that amount.”

Toulouse

Toulouse have confirmed the signing of Cesar Gelabert on a free transfer, with a four year deal sealed for the former Real Madrid academy talent.

Good morning and welcome to the latest edition of the Daily Briefing – click here to subscribe for this and more exclusive content straight to your inbox!

AC Milan

AC Milan will unveil goalkeeper Marco Sportiello as a new signing in June. A verbal agreement was reached in February and he’s now set to join on a free transfer to come in as backup to Mike Maignan.

Ajax

Talks are ongoing between Ajax and midfield wonderkid Silvano Vos to sign a new contract. He’s a big talent from the academy and is being followed by big clubs in Europe. The player’s preference for now is to succeed at Ajax instead of moving to other important clubs who are showing an interest.

Arsenal

Arsenal’s latest proposal to Reiss Nelson is for a contract valid until June 2027 plus one year option. A short term deal was also discussed and then rejected weeks ago. Talks are now ongoing over a long term deal — but Nelson has bids from Italy, England and France.

Arsenal and Tottenham scouts have monitored Edmond Tapsoba in recent games but the race is absolutely open — Bayer Leverkusen will only sell for huge bid, but he looks like one to watch in this summer’s market.

Arsenal could sell as many as 14 players this summer, including Nicolas Pepe (Football London)

Aston Villa

Douglas Luiz: “I believe in the Aston Villa project, so that’s why I decided to stay. It’s exciting to be a part of this new era. Why wouldn’t I stay? Everything is going well. But in football, everything happens quite quickly.”

Barcelona

Jordi Alba leaves Barcelona. Spanish left back will part ways with the club — it’s over after many years together. Alba will try new chapter as free agent. Alba leaves Barca to help the club though their difficult financial situation. Xavi and Laporta let him decide as he deserved that.

Bayern Munich

Victor Osimhen celebrates a goal

Napoli want as much as €150m for Victor Osimhen. This is too expensive for Bayern Munich, and so they are targeting Randal Kolo Muani instead.

Borussia Dortmund

Official, confirmed. Mats Hummels has signed new deal at Borussia Dortmund as expected.

He said: “I’m ready to give my best for this club as always.”

Borussia director Sebastian Kehl on Jude Bellingham: “In terms of bids, there’s still nothing on the table. There are rumours, but there’s nothing on the table.”

Real Madrid always planned to submit an official bid for Bellingham after this week to respect Dortmund in the Bundesliga title race.

Brighton

No concrete or fresh talks on between Brighton and Shakhtar Donetsk for Mykola Matvienko, it’s not something close or advanced at this stage. No negotiations after €16m bid turned down last January.

Brighton are currently not working on Davide Frattesi deal despite the recent reports.

De Zerbi confirms: “For sure Frattesi’s a top player but we need different characteristics.”

De Zerbi: “I hope Levi Colwill can play with us next year, but it’s the decision of Chelsea. He’s a top player for us. Robert Sanchez? I can’t do anything. If he wants (to stay next season), for sure, but I decide the first XI.”

Chelsea

Chelsea still want more than £80m for Mason Mount, with a contract extension now looking unlikely despite Mauricio Pochettino’s efforts. He’s a priority target for Liverpool, while Manchester United also want him, and Arsenal could be there too.

Following conversation between coach and player, a mutual decision has been made for Raheem Sterling to sit out the upcoming internationals. Sterling will focusing on recuperating his body in preparation for the upcoming season. Raheem is still very much a part of Gareth Southgate’s plans.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi: “I hope Levi Colwill can play with us next year, but it’s the decision of Chelsea. He’s a top player for us.”

Fulham

Tony Khan confirms plan for Marco Silva to stay: “I am very positive about Marco staying, he is very happy at Fulham and all of us are very happy with him. We want that to continue, hopefully for a very long time.”

Inter Milan

Alessandro Bastoni on new long term deal: “I feel very good here at Inter, I’m on the same page with the club. I think we will continue together, the new deal is close.”

Bastoni’s new contract will be signed soon — valid until June 2028 for €5m net per season plus add-ons.

Hakan Calhanoglu will sign new deal in the next days — it’s all done and sealed, contract will be valid until June 2027.

“There’s an agreement in principle, I’m so happy to continue here,” he told Sky.

Juventus

Juventus have offered Adrien Rabiot a new contract, but it looks unlikely that he’ll decide to stay at the club amid interest from Manchester United, while Bayern Munich also like the player.

No changes on Leandro Paredes and Angel Di Maria future. Both expected to leave Juventus at the end of the current season. Paredes will return to PSG but he will be allowed to leave, he’s on the market. Di Maria will explore options as free agent.

Liverpool

Liverpool are advancing on the Alexis Mac Allister deal, but the situation of Mason Mount also remains a priority for the Reds. It looks difficult for Chelsea to extend Mount’s contract, even though Mauricio Pochettino would like to keep him. One issue that makes the deal complicated is that Chelsea will insist on really important money to let him go, especially to another Premier League club.

AC Milan

AC Milan director Paolo Maldini: “Rafael Leao will sign a new deal very soon, it’s 100% guaranteed. Final details will be completed in some days.”

Leao has already signed a new deal valid until June 2028.

Arsenal

Granit Xhaka is set to leave Arsenal at the end of the season. There will be no negotiations over a new deal as both parties plan to part ways in June. Bayer Leverkusen are now in very advanced talks to sign him for a €15m fee. Personal terms are almost agreed over a four-year deal running until June 2027.

The reality is that negotiations between Xhaka and Arsenal never really got started, and now the idea is clear, to part ways at the end of the season. German clubs like to do their business fast, not in August, and Leverkusen are now in advanced talks over Xhaka, having already confirmed a deal for Alejandro Grimaldo. It’s a good opportunity for Xhaka to get a long-term contract and to be a leader of the Leverkusen project.

Arsenal look set to have a big summer, and are following a number of defenders such as Mohamed Simakan and Edmond Tapsoba. And with Xhaka leaving, they are also working on signing a midfielder. Declan Rice has always been a top target and he remains their priority. There have been conversations between Arsenal and Rice, while Mikel Arteta and Edu were already discussing him internally back in January. Arsenal now plan to prepare an official bid for the West Ham star in the next few weeks, but this won’t be easy because the Hammers are focusing on the Europa Conference League. It’s not imminent, because West Ham don’t want to negotiate until June, but it’s been clear since last summer that Rice would not sign a new deal with his current club. Arsenal will be there, it’s their priority, they want to try to bid for him soon.

Arsenal won’t be alone in pursuing Rice, because there’s also interest from Chelsea, while Manchester United also need a new midfielder and are keeping an eye on the situation.

Huge news for United States confirmed yesterday: Arsenal star Folarin Balogun has finally decided to represent USMNT — he will switch allegiance to USA. Balogun took his time but the decision has been made. Despite 13 appearances and seven goals with England Under-21s, the 21-year-old, who was born in New York, will no longer represent England and will make himself available for the USA.

Arsenal could join Barcelona in the race to sign Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer (Sport Bild)

Barcelona

Pedri on Lionel Messi‘s return to Barcelona: “I see rumours on Messi everywhere… but well, I’d really like Leo’s return to Barca. Of course it depends on the club and on Leo, but… I hope that it will happen.”

Official: Jordi Cruyff will step down as sporting director of Barcelona at the end of the season.

Barcelona are now closing in on deal to appoint Deco as new director of the club after Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff left the club. Talks are very advanced and Deco has already accepted 90% of the details of the agreement; waiting to fix situation with his agency.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth now confirm permanent signing of Hamed Traore from Serie A side Sassuolo. Deal completed for €30m fee add ons included — Traore is now contracted to the Cherries until June 2028.

Brentford

Mark Flekken will replace David Raya this summer. The deal is set to be completed; Brentford are prepared to seal agreement on personal terms on five year contract. Brentford will trigger €13m release clause from Freiburg at the end of the season.

Chelsea

Chelsea remain interested in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, but Arsenal are hoping to make a bid for him in the coming weeks. The complication for now is that West Ham don’t want to negotiate yet, they prefer to wait until June so that they can focus on the Europa Conference League.

Inter Milan

It’s just a matter of time for the official announcement of Hakan Calhanoglu’s new contract at Inter. New deal will be valid until June 2027, official soon — as reported in March.

Juventus

Alex Sandro is set to extend his contract at Juventus until June 2024 — one more season as clause has been activated. The objectives/appearances have been completed and the extension is gonna be official soon.

Leicester City

Youri Tielemans will leave Leicester as free agent, there have been no doubts on this since last summer. There are multiple proposals on the table but nothing agreed yet. The Belgian midfielder is fully focused on the final games of the season then he will assess his options and decide his next club.

Liverpool

Liverpool feel positive following Alexis Mac Allister transfer talks on the player side, with the Brighton and Argentina midfielder emerging as one of the Reds’ top targets in that position, while Mason Mount and Ryan Gravenberch are also liked at Anfield.

Good morning guys! Welcome to my latest Daily Briefing – click here to subscribe to get this and more exclusive transfer news straight to your inbox and completely ad-free!

Arsenal

Julian Brandt has always been tracked by Arsenal. I’m not aware of fresh contacts at this stage, nothing new; also because Borussia Dortmund have still not decided on Brandt’s future. New attacking signings will depend on many factors, nothing is decided on summer plan yet.

Arsenal offered Moises Caicedo a huge salary in January, which is why Brighton have given him a new contract with a pay rise, but it won’t stop top clubs being there for the midfielder in the summer.

Mikel Arteta: “Saliba had instant impact. First two training sessions, we looked at him and thought: there’s huge potential here. He came in and said: I’m going to prove that I’m very good, I deserve to be here. He took out every question mark that we could have with him.”

Bayern Munich

Joao Cancelo was left on the bench for 90 minutes last night after playing just 12’ last game vs Union. Julian Nagelsmann: “Joao’s handling the situation well. I don’t have impression that he’s breaking off. Stanisic is a bit more defensive, that’s the reason.”

Borussia Dortmund

Marco Reus on his contract expiring in June: “Of course I can’t imagine myself not playing for Borussia Dortmund, in this stadium… I hope not.”

Contract talks are ongoing in order to make internal decision soon.

Julian Brandt has always been tracked by Arsenal. I’m not aware of fresh contacts at this stage, nothing new; also because Borussia Dortmund have still not decided on Brandt’s future.

Brighton

I’ve been asked a few times about Moises Caicedo surprisingly signing a new contract with Brighton, but it’s not about being persuaded; Caicedo deserved a pay rise after £70m turned down by Brighton and a huge salary from Arsenal, so it was absolutely normal to accept. I think top clubs will try again to sign him in the summer, contract extension helps Brighton for sure but there’s no release clause in the deal and it doesn’t change the situation for the summer: top clubs will be there.

Bristol City

I can’t mention the clubs at this stage but I can confirm there is interest from Premier League clubs in Alex Scott. Bristol City won’t negotiate for less than £20-25m.

Chelsea

Graham Potter: “If results aren’t good enough… then you know your job is in danger. That’s our [coaches] life. I just have to do my best, try to improve the situation until there’s a point where we’re not able to go forward — that has not been the case, we keep fighting.”

Potter: “The players fought for the win and it allows us to keep moving forward. Players with me? It needs to manifest itself in wins. Talk is cheap. The results haven’t been good enough and that is my responsibility. We have to try to improve and win.”

Leeds United are reportedly one of the clubs eyeing up a potential transfer move for Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu this summer.

The Turkey international could seemingly be made available by Inter, with Fichajes reporting that the Serie A giants would be prepared to sell for around €25million.

The report names Leeds and Southampton as two potential suitors for Calhanoglu, who has had a fine career in Europe, even if he’s never quite hit the expectations seen in him when he was a youngster.

Calhanoglu really caught the eye in spells at Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen, establishing a reputation as a set-piece and long-range goal specialist, but he’s perhaps failed to build on that and become enough of an all-rounder to make it to the very top.

Hakan Calhanoglu in action for Inter Milan

Still, the 29-year-old could be a fine option to give Leeds some quality in the middle of the park, so there’s surely some sense in pursuing this deal if it can be done on the cheap.

Inter are under pressure to sell players like Calhanoglu due to their poor finances at the moment, according to Fichajes.

Good morning everyone! Welcome to the latest edition of my Daily Briefing, enjoy!

Al Nassr

There are no talks ongoing between Al Nassr and Marcelo at this stage — his future remains open. The Brazilian left back is now exploring options after contract terminated with Olympiacos, he’s available on a free transfer — nothing has been decided yet.

Arsenal

Despite reports to the contrary, at the moment I’m not aware of any negotiation between Arsenal and Inter for Denzel Dumfries. They are exploring right back options and Ivan Fresneda remains appreciated, they are sending scouts regularly to follow him, but Dumfries has completely different value for Inter and at the moment his situation is still quiet.

All three of Arsenal, Man City and Man United are in the title race, in my opinion. I’m not big fan of making predictions, and I love to enjoy football at top level – this year the title race is really amazing and I’m sure it will be until the final 1/2 games of the Premier League. I think City will be there until the end to fight, but I still see Arsenal as favourites; I love their mentality.

Borussia Monchengladbach

Gladbach director Virkus confirms that Marcus Thuram will leave on a free: “We have to accept that there are bigger clubs where Marcus might go.”

Thuram has proposals from England, Italy and Spain after Chelsea interest in January.

Chelsea

A deal for Marcus Thuram didn’t happen because Chelsea had the player on their list but it was never close. The priority was Mykhaylo Mudryk and they’ve been able to sign him. Thuram always wanted to decide his future in the final months of his contract, not in January. Thuram has many proposals from England, Spain and Italy too; decision will be later this year.

I think the best idea for Mason Mount and Chelsea is to continue together, he just needs more confidence but I think he’s an amazing player. In case contract talks do end up collapsing, he’d be a great option for every club including Liverpool; but I hope Chelsea and Mount will find a way together.

Inter Milan

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta: “We’re now working to extend the contract of Hakan Calhanoglu. We’re in talks with his agents, contacts will continue with him and more players.”

Negotiations with Calhanoglu are advanced, Inter also want to extend Alessandro Bastoni’s contract.

Juventus

Adrien Rabiot on contract expiring in June: “I’m here at Juve, focused on my performances. I’m not thinking of my contract now – we will see how talks will go in the next months”, tells Sky.

Rabiot could leave Juventus as a free agent in the summer, the Premier League is his biggest dream. He’d love to play in England, but he doesn’t have a favourite club, or at least not that I’m not aware of at the moment. Rabiot does not want to negotiate with anyone else now, he wants to focus on Juventus and then in April/May he will start exploring options for his future.

Liverpool

I think the best idea for Mason Mount and Chelsea is to continue together, he just needs more confidence but I think he’s an amazing player. In case contract talks do end up collapsing, he’d be a great option for every club including Liverpool; but I hope Chelsea and Mount will find a way together.

I see Liverpool doing very well in the second part of the season, I think they can create serious problems to the contenders, including Tottenham and Newcastle. It hasn’t been their best season, but they look like they’re improving and you can never write them off.

Jurgen Klopp: “The bad news [is] Darwin has something on his shoulder. We will see. In that situation I don’t know what [the referee] whistled there against him, to be honest. In the end, he had to go off with a shoulder issue. We need further assessment. I don’t know in the moment. In the moment is it painful, but hopefully it’s just painful and not more.”

Manchester City

All three of Arsenal, Man City and Man United are in the title race, in my opinion. I’m not big fan of making predictions, and I love to enjoy football at top level – this year the title race is really amazing and I’m sure it will be until the final 1/2 games of the Premier League. I think City will be there until the end to fight, but I still see Arsenal as favourites; I love their mentality.

Pep Guardiola: “Phil Foden has to compete with Mahrez who’s playing really well, and other players. It’s a competition. What I have to say is not be frustrated, it’s perform as best as possible. After that, it will be easy.”

Rafaela Pimenta: “Erling Haaland is now worth €1B. I’m serious, I’m sure this is the value of the player.”

Manchester United

Erik ten Hag on Marcus Rashford contract expiring in 2024: “Rashford’s new deal is a priority. We are working on it, in the background we’re working hard. We have to keep Marcus, of course. First day we met, I told him: I want to see your smile! He’s in a happy place now.”

24 goals and 8 assists this season for Marcus Rashford, and also a goal in 7 consecutive games at Old Trafford – unbelievable form from a player hitting the peak of his powers.

Erik ten Hag on his future after takeover: “I like being here at Man United and I’m here to thank fans for their confidence. I’m going to give everything to be as good as possible for this club.”

PSG

Kylian Mbappe: “I was never attacking or pointing the finger at Neymar when I mentioned we need to eat and sleep well. I hope Neymar’s injury is not serious, I hope he returns soon — we need him with us.”

Rafaela Pimenta: “Marco Verratti’s future? It’s impossible to imagine Verratti in another club, it’s just PSG for him. Impossible. He loves PSG.”

Villarreal

Understand Villarreal are closing in on an agreement to extend the contract of 2003-born Russian centre back Anton Efremov until June 2026 – the deal is at final stages. The agreement will also include an option to extend the contract for a further season.

Welcome to today’s Daily Briefing – thanks for reading, click here to subscribe if you want this in your email inbox, completely ad-free, five mornings a week!

Arsenal

Arsenal will have to decide how to proceed on the Ivan Fresneda deal. He’s yet to decide his future, with Borussia Dortmund also in the race and Real Valladolid keen to keep him on loan until the summer.

Barcelona

Real Betis want Hector Bellerin back, this is something they wanted since last summer but at the moment there’s no green light from Barcelona. We will see if that changes in the final days of the window.

Franck Kessie won’t leave Barcelona, Xavi confirms: “I’ve never considered Kessie’s departure. Kessie is a player I like, he gives us many variants in a game and he can be really important.”

Bournemouth

Bournemouth are now set to sign Nico Jackson, here we go! Full agreement on personal terms and between clubs with Villarreal for €23m fee plus €2.5m add ons, he will be in UK for medical tests today. One more big signing for Bournemouth after Ouattara.

Brighton

Brighton have made an opening bid for Mykola Matvienko — it’s close to €11m but it’s still far from Shakhtar Donetsk expectation. Shakhtar want €30m fee to sell the Ukrainian centre back in January.

Moises Caicedo: “I’m focused on Brighton. I’m here, I’m focused on this club so things from outside don’t trouble me, nor does it take that focus away because I’m focused only on here. I only try to be focused on club which opened the doors for me to be playing every week.”

Chelsea

Chelsea will push again for Malo Gusto this week. Talks are ongoing after they saw an opening bid rejected by Lyon. Chelsea are not giving up, despite Lyon fighting to keep the player. Personal terms have been agreed as revealed yesterday, as Malo Gusto dreams of Premier League football.

Chelsea have approached Benfica for Enzo Fernandez again one week ago, but there is no change. Benfica president Rui Costa has been very clear again: €120m or nothing. No fresh proposal has been made, as things stand — and no new contacts with Benfica.

Enzo Fernandez celebrates a goal for Benfica

Everton

Everton were left surprised and angry as Tottenham hijacked their move for Arnaut Danjuma. They are now exploring alternatives, including Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Everton have to make many decisions on many players including Amadou OnanaAnthony Gordon with Newcastle pushing now, and they’ll also have to select a new coach soon. Onana was not close to any top club during the summer, Everton were really determined on signing him in August.

Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce are confident of getting a deal done for Jayden Oosterwolde. Talks are well advanced with Parma. The player’s keen on the move, as I revealed in early January, and has already agreed personal terms.

Inter Milan

Inter will extend Matteo Darmian’s deal for one more year — and talks will take place with Hakan Calhanoglu and then Alessandro Bastoni to offer them new contract. Both Bastoni and Calhanoglu are out of contract in June 2024.

PSG are absolutely leading the race for Milan Skriniar. They wanted Skriniar since last summer and so English clubs are just informed but no one is close to signing Skriniar more than PSG. He’s a great defender, potentially one of the best bargains of the summer for sure.

Leeds United

Talks are ongoing between Leeds United and Juventus on the conditions of the Weston McKennie deal. Discussions are also happening on player side over personal terms. The other option for Leeds is Azzedine Ounahi from Angers.

Manchester United

As I always say, for Osimhen, Kane, Ramos… we have to wait for the summer. Nothing will happen now, just internal discussions at Manchester United. They are monitoring many strikers but nothing is concrete or advanced now; they sent their scouts to UCL games for Goncalo Ramos, but at the moment there’s nothing else.

Napoli

Pierluigi Gollini will complete medical tests as new Napoli goalkeeper today. Former Spurs GK joins Napoli on loan with buy option clause. The former PSG goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu will join Fiorentina as part of the deal.

Newcastle United

Flamengo have turned down €16m bid from Newcastle for Matheus Franca but talks are expected to continue.

Newcastle have submitted an opening bid for Anthony Gordon — pushing to get the deal done, all parties are now discussing. “I can tell you absolutely nothing,” Eddie Howe said when asked about the Gordon deal.

PSG

PSG are absolutely leading the race for Milan Skriniar. They wanted Skriniar since last summer and so English clubs are just informed but no one is close to signing Skriniar more than PSG. He’s a great defender, potentially one of the best bargains of the summer for sure.

Real Valladolid

Real Valladolid are closing in on a deal for Moroccan World Cup star Selim Amallah. Negotiations are now at an advanced stage, paperwork could be completed this week.

No decision made by Ivan Fresneda… yet. €15m fee requested by Valladolid, Borussia Dortmund are pushing to get it done — Arsenal have to decide how to proceed in 24/48h. Valladolid want Fresneda to stay there on loan and BVB are discussing about it.

Red Bull Salzburg

Oscar Gloukh to RB Salzburg, done deal and here we go! Full agreement in place on €7m fee, personal terms agreed too. Israeli talent will join Salzburg from Maccabi Tel Aviv. Barcelona tried to sign Gloukh, as well as Benfica, Udinese and Borussia Dortmund, but no way.

Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart are keen on signing Hugo Vetlesen from Bodo Glimt. The Norwegian midfielder is on their list as an option to be discussed soon.

Tottenham

Tottenham are prepared to sign all the documents with Villarreal and Arnaut Danjuma in the morning after medical tests in London. Loan move confirmed – no option or clause to make it permanent.

Arnaut Danjuma celebrates a goal for Villarreal

Tottenham decided to move during the night between Monday and Tuesday. They considered Danjuma on loan as big opportunity and so they jumped on it. Everton were shocked and angry as Danjuma agreed terms, did his medical tests and also media stuff; Everton will now explore many possibilities including Kamaldeen Sulemana and more.

Tottenham will push again for Pedro Porro – they are ready to offer players to Sporting Lisbon, but they only want money. A swap deal won’t be easy, but Spurs remain optimistic and will push again for this deal in the next 24 hours.

Antonio Conte: “I would like to help Kane. Harry loves Tottenham, this club is in his heart. It should be good if together we were able to win something because then it is important to have this record but I think it could be more important if you win a trophy.”
