Aston Villa are ready to sell Bertrand Traore during the January transfer window as the winger is not part of Unai Emery’s plans at the Birmingham club. 

Villa have made a flying start to the current campaign which sees them fifth in the Premier League table and the club hopes to continue to grow over the coming years.

The Premier League club have made some impressive signings over recent transfer windows and players such as Traore are not required anymore, hence why Emery has given the green light for the forward to be sold during the next transfer window, reports Football Insider.

The 28-year-old has played just 41 minutes of football across all competitions so far this season and stepped on the pitch for only one minute this weekend against Luton Town having failed to play in the previous six matches.

Traore is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and will not be offered an extension at Villa Park. Therefore, January is the last chance Villa can get a fee for the player.

Villa will hope to bring in a small amount of cash for the player and at the very least, the Birmingham club will get his £78,000-a-week off of their books.

It’s very clear indeed where West Ham’s problems lie this season, even if they began the 2023/24 campaign in reasonable enough fashion.

With 10 games gone in the campaign so far, they’re one of only two teams in the top 11 sides in the Premier League with a negative goal difference.

Why? It’s because they don’t score enough goals.

With 33-year-old striker, Michail Antonio, not getting any younger and Danny Ings being a complete waste of space so far this season, the Hammers front line boast an embarrassing two goals between them, both scored by Antonio, per WhoScored.

If David Moyes doesn’t want to be spending the second half of the season battling against a slide down the table, then acquiring a striker in the January transfer window is a must.

It beggars belief why the club didn’t prioritise one in the summer window but there’s no use worrying about that now.

According to Calciomercato, West Ham are one of a clutch of teams that are ‘vigilant and determined to obtain new information’ on Roma’s England striker, Tammy Abraham.

Though injured at present, he would surely represent an affordable incoming transfer in Janaury and is unlikely to do any worse than his contemporaries, Ings and Antonio.

The Irons need to be right on it in terms of a striker hunt so that as soon as the window opens, they can hit their ground running with their new purchase.

Unai Emery is masterminding a brilliant season for Aston Villa in 2023/24, showing all those who didn’t believe in him whilst he was at Arsenal that he absolutely has something to offer the Premier League.

An excellent win against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League sees them joint top of the Group E table, and a current fifth place in the Premier League, just four points behind leaders Tottenham Hotspur, shows the good work he’s doing in the English top-flight.

They’re also the joint top scorers in the Premier League along with Newcastle.

Clearly, the Spaniard is doing something right, however, not everyone is enjoying the vibe at Villa Park at present.

One player that has hardly featured of late is 30-year-old Alex Moreno, and that’s mainly down to injury concerns.

Clearly, as he hasn’t been able to call upon the player, Moreno has dropped down Emery’s pecking order and with Estadio Deportivo (h/t TeamTalk) noting that his former club, Real Betis, are circling, a move back to the green and white half of Seville may suit all parties.

Tammy Abraham has been linked with a move away from Roma in recent weeks.

A report from Calciomercato.It claims that Premier League clubs Aston Villa, West Ham United and Fulham are all keen on signing the 26-year-old striker.

The opportunity to return to the Premier League could be an attractive proposition for the former Chelsea striker and it remains to be seen whether the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham can agree on a fee with Roma.

The Italian outfit have signed Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea on loan and the Belgian has been in fine form. They could look to sign him permanently at the end of the season and Abraham would then need to leave the club in order to play regularly.

Aston Villa have been overly dependent on Ollie Watkins for goals and they could certainly use another striker. Abraham has previously played for Aston Villa on loan and he knows the club well. The opportunity to return to the West Midlands club could be tempting for him and he could share the goal-scoring burden alongside Watkins.

Similarly, West Ham need to add more quality and depth in the final third. They will have to bring in a quality long-term replacement for Michail Antonio. Abraham would be a quality acquisition for both clubs and they have the financial resources to get the deal done as well.

It remains to be seen where the 26-year-old ends up eventually.  He needs to join a club where he will get ample first-team action and the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham should be able to provide him with that opportunity.

Aston Villa are reportedly keen on the Bundesliga midfielder Exequiel Palacios.

A report via Team Talk claims that Aston Villa are keeping tabs on the 25-year-old Argentine midfielder and they will face competition from Newcastle United.

Palacios has established himself as a key player for Bayer Leverkusen and he was a part of the Argentina squad that won the World Cup last year.

The 25-year-old is naturally a defensive midfielder but he can operate as a central midfielder as well. He will add defensive steel and creativity to the Aston Villa midfield if he joins the club in the coming months.

The midfielder has contributed to two goals and two assists across all competitions this season. He could prove to be an upgrade on Youri Tielemans who has not been able to live up to the expectations since joining the club on a free transfer.

Aston Villa have made an impressive start to the current campaign and in a bid to try and push for a top-four finish this season, Unai Emery is likely to recruit more stars in January. 

The Birmingham club are sat fifth in the Premier League, just four points behind leaders Tottenham, whilst Villa are also second in their Europa Conference League Group.

One problem that could hamper Unai Emery’s side from having an extraordinary campaign is squad depth but the Spanish coach will look to fix that in January.

According to TNT Sports, Aston Villa are keen to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Exequiel Palacios, who has made a strong contribution to the German club sitting top of the Bundesliga.

The report states that the Villans could face stiff competition to sign the Argentina international, who is also being tracked by Manchester City and Newcastle United.

Emery already has an abundance of exciting midfield talent in his squad but the acquisition of the 25-year-old star will only make them perform better and make Villa’s squad stronger to compete on several fronts.

French fans have not forgotten the actions of Aston Villa star Emi Martinez following Argentina’s World Cup win over France last December. 

The goalkeeper held a baby doll with a picture of Mbappe’s face stuck to it during the World Cup winners parade in Argentina after the tournament and people in France made their feelings clear on the red carpet of the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday night in Paris.

As Martinez arrived, the Villa star had the name “Mbappe” chanted at him whilst others were heard booing.

The goalkeeper didn’t react to his reception as he took photos on his way into the ceremony.

According to Fichajes, Aston Villa are closing in on a deal to sign Sevilla defender and Argentina international Marcos Acuna for around £13 million.

The source claims Sevilla are willing to sell the defender, and the January deal is supposedly at an advanced stage already, with the reported figure of £13 million.

The 32-year-old was part of the Argentina World Cup winning squad in 2022, and played his part in Sevilla winning the UEFA Europa League in the 2022/23 season.
