Leeds United picked up a 2-2 draw against Cardiff City in the Championship on Sunday.

Crysencio Summerville produced an impressive performance for his side against Cardiff and he scored a vital stoppage-time equaliser for the Whites.

The 21-year-old was lively throughout the game and he was one of the main threats from Daniel Farke’s side.

Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton has now slammed the 21-year-old winger for the lack of respect during the game. Summerville was blasted for diving during the draw against Cardiff City and Sutton labelled his antics as hideous.

He added that the 21-year-old is a good player who needs to show more respect and stop driving.

“It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, we will hunt the divers down and we will call them out,” said Sutton. “But the winner (of this week’s simulation game), Crysencio Summerville from Leeds.

“I mean, it was hideous. Why?! Show a little respect, Summerville. You are better than that. Just stop it. Stop diving. We will call you out. You are a good player.”

Leeds United will be desperate for promotion back to the Premier League this season and it remains to be seen whether the likes of Summerville can help them return to the top flight next summer. The 21-year-old has been a key player for the club since joining them and he is likely to play a vital role for them this season as well.

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has confirmed that Illan Meslier will start against Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon.

Despite being heavily linked with a transfer away from Elland Road this summer, Meslier, yet to receive an offer from another club, is in line to continue as the Whites’ number one.

Interestingly, despite signing Karl Darlow from Newcastle United earlier in the window, Farke has admitted there are no guarantees the former Magpies’ keeper will replace Meslier.

And now preparing to kick start their EFL season, Leeds, who will host Cardiff City later this weekend, will be determined to get off to a winning start, and Farke has hinted Meslier may be the best option in goal to help his side claim all three points.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Leeds boss, when asked about Meslier’s status within the squad, said: “We need competition. Man management can be difficult but we need competition. We need it in a few other positions. It’s clear that Illan will start if he’s fit.”

Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has completed a emotional return to Cardiff City on a two-year deal.

This transfer comes after French club NIce and the player mutually terminated the contract making him a free agent.
The 32-year-old had a successful medical on Thursday and was officially announced on Saturday night.

As a Cardiff City fan, Ramsey expressed his desire to help the club reach new heights and return to the top. He acknowledged the club’s highs and lows over the years and aims to contribute to its success.

Expressing his joy upon joining his boyhood club, Ramsey said (via BBC):

“It feels unbelievable to finally be back here. I always thought one day I’d come back, and now it’s the perfect time to do that.”

“To be back with my family and around familiar faces is just brilliant, so I’m delighted to be back here now. I’ve missed that a lot in the last year or so, so it was important for me to be back around them.

“Obviously I’m a Cardiff City fan, and watching them over the years since I’ve been away, we’ve had some low points but some big highs as well, being in the Premier League and representing Cardiff on the big stage.

“That’s a target of mine – to try and help my team-mates and this club to get back to the top.

“I’ve said it many times in the past – I owe so much to Cardiff, to the fans, to everybody who has been at the club when I was here as a young boy coming through.

“For me now to come full circle, to be part of this team now, and hopefully achieve the goals we want, there’s no better feeling than that.”

What perhaps makes the day even more special for Ramsey is that he signs the same day his son signed for their academy.

Ramsey enjoyed his best time at Arsenal where he made more than 350 appearances and won the FA Cup thrice.  He left the club in 2019 and moved to Juventus on a free but struggled to regain his best form.

He was subsequently loaned out to Rangers and later signed for OGC Nice before completing his full-circle return to Cardiff City.

English football is set for a major change next season as all clubs in the top two tiers of the country can apply to operate licensed safe standing areas next season, the UK Government has said.

This is according to the Daily Mail, who also states that the Government have confirmed that Wembley will also offer limited safe standing for fans from both sets of clubs at domestic matches later in the season.

Cardiff City, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham took part in a safe standing pilot in the second half of last season and Brentford, QPR and Wolves will now join those clubs in offering designated areas for home and away fans from the start of the 2022-23 season.

Other clubs are expected to join these clubs in applying the standing as the season progresses, in what will be a momentous move for the English game.

Safe standing is returning to England

As of now, the only club that are not considering introducing safe standing for next season is Liverpool but the Reds may extend or increase their existing rail seating provision having run a separate club pilot last season reports the Daily Mail.

There has been a blanket ban on standing in the top two tiers of English football since August 1994 in the wake of the 1989 Hillsborough disaster and therefore the Merseyside club’s decision is completely understandable.

Safe standing has been in operation in many countries across Europe but the most notable is Germany, where it has been very successful. There are a lot of pros and cons to standing at matches but it is something that has been talked about in England for a while now. Whether it will be a success or not can be seen next season but at least it is being tried in order to increase the atmosphere in stadiums.

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has stated that it is possible that Gareth Bale could join the Welsh side next season after the Welshman’s year with Los Angeles FC finishes.

It became official today that Bale is moving to the MLS next season where he has signed a 12-month contract with Los Angeles FC with options through to 2024 reports Sky Sports.

The 32-year-old has joined the club in order to prepare for his first World Cup with Wales in November and will play for a new side for the first time in nine years after a very successful spell in Spain with Real Madrid.

One of the clubs linked with a move for Bale this summer was Cardiff City and following the Wales international’s move to America, Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan spoke about the potential move for the winger.

Bale has joined LAFC for next season

Speaking to talkSPORT, Tan said on the potential Bale deal: “We were very, very keen and of course it would have been a big coup for us and would have been great for Gareth Bale to play for his home town.

“Everybody would be happy if Gareth Bale returned home and played in Cardiff, but unfortunately the offer [from America] was too attractive to turn down.”

The Cardiff owner also left the door open for Bale to play for the Welsh club next season once his year with Los Angeles was up. Tan stated: “His contract is for 12 months. We will see what happens. Maybe in 12 months, Gareth will want to come back and come home, serve Cardiff, his home town.

“He has never played in Cardiff, a club he and his family are fans of. Hopefully, in 12 months time, he’s still young, he will come back at 35 and some play until they are 40 years old.

This would be a dream for a lot of Cardiff fans but the possibility of Bale retiring next summer is also quite high.

LAFC general manager Joe Thorrington has defender Gareth Bale’s decision to make the move to MLS.

Bale has been heavily linked with a return to English football ahead of his Real Madrid contact expiring on June 30.

Reports claim he met with Cardiff City over a potential move back to his home country, but in the end, the Welshman decided to try his like Stateside.

Like many top players coming towards the end of their careers before him, Bale will play in MLS.

It was announced on Sunday that he will join LAFC, who will pay Inter Miami for the right to sign Bale.

Miami placed the veteran on their discovery list some time ago, giving them the first right of refusal or $50,000 in compensation should another team sign him.

LAFC have paid the fee and everything has been agreed for Bale, who could make his debut for the Western Conference table-toppers within the coming weeks, with the MLS season ongoing.

And amid the perception of LAFC being a money team, backed by wealthy owners and Hollywood elite, the club’s general manager, Thorrington, has said money has nothing to do with the deal.

“It wasn’t a financial conversation for Gareth or for us. If Gareth was going to take the decision for financial reasons, he wouldn’t be in MLS,” he said, as cited by Mundo Deportivo.

MORE: Gareth Bale confirms LAFC move with video

“He has a lot to give. We want winners. You don’t win five Champions Leagues if you don’t have that hunger.”

In reality, MLS only allows clubs to pay up to three designated players with high wages, and those wages still don’t usually stand up to those of the top end of the Premier League, La Liga and other top leagues.

While Bale will be one of those higher earners, the average guaranteed wage for MLS is around $4,700 per week, showing the difference when compared to the Premier League, and even the Championship.

After nine years with Real Madrid, Gareth Bale is once more on the hunt for a new club. Winning an incredible five Champions Leagues with Los Blancos, Bale became persona non grata in Madrid, but still has plenty of ability, as he has demonstrated with Wales.

It does appear as if he will be considering his next step carefully though. The priority will of course be Wales, who are preparing for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar this November. With that in mind, Bale will want a club that permits him to regain full fitness with regular minutes, but also somewhere he can play without the pressure of risking his fitness, as might happen at some larger clubs.

McCoist believes Bale would be wasted in the Championship.

Recently it had been reported by the BBC that his agents were in talks with Cardiff City over a move back to Wales. Yet speaking to talkSport on Thursday morning, Scottish commentator Ally McCoist explained that he didn’t feel that it was the best use of Bale’s significant talent.

“I’m looking at it and clearly there’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to go back and play for your hometown club. I think it’s admirable, to say the least.”

“However I still feel that he’s got an awful lot to offer at the highest level, I really do. You watch him in the internationals and he’ll be all geared up for the World Cup in Qatar and I just think that surely there are Premier League clubs out there.”

“Automatically, I just think that Newcastle would be ideal,” McCoist asserted.

It would certainly be a sign of intent from Newcastle. Eddie Howe’s side are looking to continue a process of taking his squad to the next level, following on from Bruno Guimaraes’ signing in the winter transfer window.

However as stated, Wales will be Bale’s first priority next season. It might suit the Magpies better to try and bring younger, hungrier stars in order to take the next step.

Gareth Bale has reportedly visited the Cardiff City training ground to hold talks over a surprise move to his home country.

After winning multiple Champions League trophies at Real Madrid, a move to a second-tier English league side seems highly unlikely. However, according to WalesOnline, Bale has spent time at Cardiff’s training centre to hold talks over a shock move to join the club.

Bale was reportedly undergoing physio at the club, which was one of the reasons for the visit, but he did also hold talks with manager Steve Morison over a potential move.

Despite participating in the English league system, Cardiff City are of course based in Wales, the home country of Bale.

With the World Cup approaching, Bale will be desperate to maintain his match fitness, so he will have to guarantee regular first-team football.

At Real Madrid, Bale wasn’t receiving as many minutes as he’d like, especially towards the latter stages.

A move to Cardiff is likely to be a different story, and the Welsh-based club would undoubtedly be thrilled to have a player of Bale’s calibre playing in their squad.
