Former Leeds United star Paul Robinson believes Ethan Ampadu is too good for the Championship and that he will have several suitors from the Premier League watching him closely.

The Welshman has made an immediate impact for Leeds after his summer arrival and has started in all of the club’s fixtures in all competitions this season

His performances in the middle of the park will certainly have caught the attention of Premier League suitors ahead of the January transfer window but the Yorkshire club will want to lose him as they push for a return back to the top flight.

According to Paul Robinson, the former goalkeeper expects there to be interest from big clubs in Ampadu and claims he is better than the Championship, but noted the need for Leeds to have Premier League-ready stars if they want to get out of one of the toughest leagues in the World.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “Leeds United are a Premier League club in the Championship, looking to get out. To do that, you’ve got to have players better than everyone else in the Championship.

“Ampadu is one of those. There will be a lot of suitors from the Premier League if the club were to get out of there this season. He is better than the Championship – that’s the whole idea.

“Ampadu is a quality player, you look at his CV, you look at his history. But, Leeds are a draw. They can attract players of that quality because of the history and the ambitions of the club.“

Former Leeds United striker Max Dean is attracting interest from several English clubs after his recent form for MK Dons.

That is according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, who report Dean’s run in front of goal over the last few weeks has alerted scouts to the player, with Leeds possessing a sell-on clause in any potential deal.

Dean has scored in MK Dons’ last two matches to take his tally up to four in four, helping them pick up maximum points from fixtures with Bradford City and Swindon Town – leaving them twelfth in League Two.

The 19-year-old came through the academy of Leeds and netted 16 goals in 38 appearances for the Whites’ U23s.

Dean was behind the likes of Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood in terms of the young attackers with the most potential when at the club, therefore, fans were not very disappointed when he left but the Yorkshire club could benefit from him having been at the club in the near future.

Championship leaders Leicester City and third-placed Leeds United are both likely to be watching the weekend’s Copa Libertadores final with interest.

That’s because, according to TeamTalk, they are one of a host of clubs with a vested interest in signing one of Fluminense’s players.

As both clubs look to move back up to the Premier League at the first attempt, it’s always a good idea to strengthen in the middle of the season if possible, as much as to provide competition for places as anything else.

Studious transfer business in January could be the difference in winning a title or losing out, and whilst it’s accepted that finances do play a part of course, there’s a question mark as to how much ambition a club has if they’re prepared to sit on their laurels and hope for the best.

Daniel Farke at Leeds is hardly likely to do that, and Enzo Maresca at Leicester has also shown his ruthlessness when needed.

Whether either are able to acquire Jhon Arias in the new year is unclear at this point, with TeamTalk also noting that Rangers, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Wolves and Burnley will have scouts at the final to run the rule over the Colombian.

Five goals and three assists from 24 games this season (three as sub) per WhoScored, doesn’t scream prolific, but with so many clubs following the player, there must be something they see in him which is worth investing in.

Things are really beginning to look up for Leeds United after a shaky start to the season, with Daniel Farke starting to get the best out of his squad.

They currently sit in third position in the Championship table, a ‘best of the rest’ consider they’re at least nine points behind second place Ipswich Town, a gap that will increase to 12 points if they win their game in hand.

The motivation for Farke and the Elland Road outfit is to start chipping away at the points gap and start reeling in Ipswich and runaway leaders, Leicester City.

Out of the top three, Leeds are the team under the least amount of pressure given that the top two need to keep winning and ensure the gap remains.

One player that’s been a threat to opposition sides in every game he plays is Crysencio Summerville.

The match winner against Norwich, Summerville has been an integral part of Leeds’ rise up the table.

Fortunately for Farke and the Leeds faithful, despite Premier League interest it’s believed that the player wants to hang around in Yorkshire.

A January exit is by no means guaranteed because he is integral to Leeds at the moment. Naturally, there’s going to be interest, as there was over the summer. Everton, Bournemouth and Burnley, for example, have all looked at the player,” journalist, Ben Jacobs, told Give Me Sport.

“But it’s a very different situation to Wilfried Gnonto, who ended up staying but tried to force his way out of the club and then eventually apologised to Daniel Farke. Angus Kinnear, Leeds’ chief executive, played a big role in smoothing that situation over.

“With Summerville, he was a model professional and has a very strong relationship with Farke. In many ways, it was the player himself that wanted to stay at Leeds last summer, rather than drive an exit.

“That is highly significant in all of this because Summerville really likes Leeds and is settled at Leeds. He felt, over the summer, that Leeds was the best place for him to be, which means that Leeds have got a bit more control over this one than with Gnonto.”

As long as the wide man can remain free of injury and continue with his good form, Leeds have a good chance to keep themselves in the automatic promotion conversation until the last knockings of the 2023/24 campaign.

TalkSPORT pundit and former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has slated two Championship clubs following an investigation into Everton’s alleged breach of Financial Fair Play regulations.

As first reported by The Daily Mail, Leeds United and Leicester City will join Burnley in taking legal action against the Toffees should the club be found guilty of exploiting FFP rules.

The Merseyside club were found guilty of breaking FFP rules back in March and last week, the Premier League recommended that Everton should be hit with a 12-point deduction which would place them at the bottom of the top-flight table.

Leeds United, Burnley and Leicester City are looking to take a £300 million case against Everton should they be found guilty of breaching FFP as all three clubs were relegated during the Toffees’ supposed flaunting of UEFA’s rules.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday morning, pundit Simon Jordan has hit out against the three clubs, believing ‘they’ve got no chance’ of being successful in any lawsuit.

“No chance, no chance, no chance. They’ve got no chance. Everybody signs up to a covenant which is basically that the sanction of a breach has this consequence,” the former Palace chairman said via MOT Leeds News.

“Now they can make a case if they want and try and make a case through the legal system to try and suggest that this is a breach of the rules to which they signed up and the consequence of those rules. But any decent court case is going to refer them back to the industry that they came from and say what were the rules that you signed up to.

“The rules that you signed up to were that the punishment for financial breachers was this. You can’t then go and say ‘Well I don’t like the rules that I signed up to and I can’t do anything about changing those rules, so I’m now going to sue you for them.’”

BBC pundit Ross McCormack expressed his surprise at Patrick Bamford taking the penalty against Stoke, which he subsequently missed.

McCormack noted that Bamford wasn’t the designated penalty taker according to manager Daniel Farke’s plans.

While Bamford might have been eager to take the penalty in an attempt to regain his goal-scoring form, McCormack emphasised that there is no grey area when it comes to a designated penalty taker.

The pundit suggested that the manager may not have been pleased with Bamford’s decision to take the penalty, especially as it wasn’t within the established protocol.

McCormack said (via MOT Leeds News):

“Firstly I was surprised, as a lot of people were, that he was taking it given his record of taking penalties at the club.

“Secondly, I can understand why he wanted to take it. He’s obviously desperate, he wants back in amongst the goals, he sees players in front of him doing well, getting plaudits, scoring goals, and he was probably looking at it thinking, ‘This is a goal for me and it could kickstart my season’.

“So I get it, but what I don’t get is the manager’s half-alluded to [the fact] that he wasn’t the penalty taker, so for me I wouldn’t be too happy with that in the changing room after the game.

“Penalty taker takes the penalties and that’s it, there’s no grey area.”

Bamford is currently experiencing a goal drought, having failed to score in the six matches he’s played this season. This could explain his eagerness to take the penalty and potentially break that dry spell.

Leeds United attacker Georginio Rutter has been in impressive form for the club in the championship this season.

The 21-year-old has two goals and five assists to his name in the championship and his overall footballing ability has been a major hit at Elland Road.

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has now joked that the attacker could be a target for Real Madrid if he continues to play at this level and he would cost around £150 million.

“There’s always space for improvement,” Farke said, as quoted by The Athletic.

“He’s a young player and if he would be perfect in all areas, we would have to accept that Real Madrid would buy him for £150million.

“Thank God it’s not the case and he can grow and develop. But his potential is outstanding. He can be some player, one day.”

Rutter is still a young player who needs to add more end product to his game. However, there is no doubt that he is a prodigious talent with a big future ahead of him.

It will be interesting to see if he can guide his side back into the Premier League at the end of the season.

After a disappointing reverse at Stoke City last time out, one journalist believes Daniel Farke will be dropping three players from the Leeds United starting line up when they take on Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

It’s a must-win game for the all whites given that the following week they play Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in what is likely to be the toughest test that they’ll have faced all season.

Leeds had been building up a head of steam with some positive results under the German, but all of it came crashing down at the Bet365 Stadium.

Patrick Bamford was given the chance to put Leeds ahead from the spot, but he skied his penalty to make it three misses on the bounce from 12 yards. Worse was to follow as an own goal saw Stoke take all three points.

“Changes will be made this weekend as Leeds look to end the month of October on a high,” William Jackson wrote for Leeds Live.

“The manager spelled Glen Kamara, Crysencio Summerville and Dan James at Stoke and it seems likely that all three men will step back into the starting line-up to face Huddersfield.”

Even though the season is only a few games old, Leeds are already at the stage where if you’re not hitting top form every week you are out of the picture, at least as a starter.

Farke can’t afford to mess around or give concessions to any player as he looks to close the widening gap to the top two.

There’s sure to be a tense atmosphere against the Terriers, but if Leeds want to be considered as contenders, these are the games they have to win.

Leeds have demanded the strongest possible punishment for Everton if they are found guilty of violating financial rules as the Toffees face a possible 12-point deduction.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who report that Leeds, along with Burnley and Leicester City, remain eager to sue Everton for £300million if they are found guilty, following two of the club’s relegation to the Championship last season.

Everton stayed in the English top flight on the final day of the season and if found guilty of their crime, they would have essentially gained an unfair advantage in staying in the Premier League.

The report says that the Toffees registered a staggering £372million worth of losses across three years, £250million above the Premier League’s limit, and could face a 12-point points deduction.

This would certainly relegate the Merseyside club to the Championship this season as Leicester and Leeds look good to come straight back up.

After a great run of results in the Championship, Leeds United’s bandwagon came juddering to a halt against Stoke City, and manager Daniel Farke clearly wasn’t happy.

A win would’ve taken seen all whites keep pace with the top two teams in the Championship, Leicester City and Ipswich Town.

As it turned out the 1-0 defeat at the Bet365 Stadium, coupled with Leicester and Ipswich’s wins over Sunderland and Bristol City respectively, meant that Leeds, currently in third, are now nine points behind Ipswich in second and have played one more game than them.

Even though it is still very early days in the league season, to give up a potential 12-point lead over your nearest rivals would be a disaster.

Things could’ve been so much different for Leeds too, with Patrick Bamford handed the chance to score from the penalty spot.

Having missed his last two, it probably wasn’t the best idea for the striker to step up again and, sure enough, he skied his spot-kick over the bar.

“I want Piroe to take it,” Farke said after the match, per The Athletic’s Leeds correspondent, Phil Hay, via X (formerly Twitter).

“Piroe is our main taker but it was difficult because of the substitutions. Patrick created it with perfect movement. He’s experienced. He took the responsibility. That’s football.”

As the German noted, that’s football, and with Piroe substituted off for Bamford just three minutes beforehand, it’s no use Farke or his players worrying about it now. That game has gone.

The squad need to look ahead, and that means full focus on getting three points against Huddersfield in the next game before a tough trip to leaders Leicester a week on Friday.
