After coming back from the dead against Cardiff City in their Championship opener last weekend, Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, will surely have pinpointed exactly where his squad needed to be improved.

Though the all whites’ performance wasn’t particularly bad, they were brittle at the back at times and not as clinical as they could be up front.

With the transfer window still open for business, it does offer every club the chance to still make some moves, and that appears to be exactly what Farke is doing.

According to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, Leeds have completed a deal for Joe Rodon to join them on a season long loan.

Phil Hay of The Athletic (subscription required), also noted that the club are in advanced talks to acquire Max Aarons from Norwich, a player that Farke knows well from his time as manager of the Canaries.

Farke’s decisiveness in entering the transfer market shows his willingness to adapt to what he sees before him, and rather than wait until the very last knockings of the window, getting business done is key.

What that will allow the German to do is settle his squad down that much earlier, and try to build up a head of steam in the early stages of the season.

With a few weeks still left of the transfer window, it’s entirely possible that Leeds haven’t finished buying or selling yet.

‘Bang average’ – Leeds insider not happy with who Daniel Farke wants to sign

Conor McGilligan has expressed his concern about a potential Leeds transfer should he sign for the club permanently ahead of the new campaign in the Championship.

After being released by Norwich City at the end of last season, defender Sam Byram is now a free agent. However, the full-back has been training with Leeds during the pre-season and even featured briefly during the Whites’ friendly with Monaco on Saturday.

Such an appearance suggests that Byram may join up with Daniel Farke’s side permanently, potentially reuniting with the coach he worked with at Norwich City for a period of time.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, McGilligan said about the potential signing of Byram: “Let’s talk about Sam Byram. So, came on yesterday [against Monaco], was okay. He’s a player who fits a certain type of profile. He’s not a full-back, for me. He’s a wing-back. He’s always been a wing-back.

“Can play left, can play right. As a rotation option, a complete rotation option by the way, someone who’s on the bench, I don’t mind it. He’s not reliable, he’s not dependable, he’s always injured and his career’s gone, in my opinion, nowhere really since he left Leeds with the hype that he had – which I think, fair play, was generated by a lot of Leeds fans.

“He’s bang average, bang, bang average, but maybe that’s where we’re at at the minute when it comes to rotation. We’re not going to be getting a player of high skill and high technical ability if we’re in the Championship.”

Arsenal winger Marquinhos has joined Championship side Norwich City on loan.

The move has been confirmed by the Canaries, who are set to welcome the Brazilian, who will join until the end of the season.

Exclusive: Arsenal turned down alternative offers for Marquinhos to seal Norwich City loan

Arsenal have loaned Marquinhos to Norwich City for the rest of the season, as has been officially announced this morning.

However, it seems there were other clubs interested in signing the young Brazilian winger as well, according to Fabrizio Romano in his exclusive Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside.

Some unnamed Brazilian clubs also wanted a loan deal for Marquinhos, but it seems Arsenal turned those advances down as their preference was for the 19-year-old to go and gain experience at an English club.

Marquinhos will surely benefit from getting regular minutes at Championship level, and Arsenal fans will hope it means he can come back to the Emirates Stadium next season with the experience required to do more to compete for a first-team place in Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arsenal have a number of talented attacking players in their squad at the moment, so it won’t be easy for Marquinhos to get into the side, but he looks a player with great potential, even if he remains a little unpolished in some aspects of his game.

“A deal has been signed between Arsenal and Norwich City for Marquinhos,” Romano said. “Documents are being exchanged as Marquinhos becomes a Norwich player.

“Brazilian clubs were also interested in the young winger, but Arsenal’s preference was for him to go on loan to a club in England.”

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Norwich City’s Max Aarons and could make a move for the defender in January.

The 22-year-old already has Premier League experience after being a regular starter during Norwich’s last two campaigns in the top flight.

According to The Sun, Aarons came close to signing for Everton after Frank Lampard approached the Championship side in the summer. However, a deal failed to materialise and whilst the Toffees remain interested, Aarons could opt for a move to Manchester to partake in the project Erik ten Hag is creating at United.

Ten Hag recently addressed the need for United to have “two good fullbacks” for both the left and right positions. Currently, Diogo Dalot is irreplaceable in the Red Devils’ starting 11 at right-back but competition for the role would only further improve both players.

Manchester United are reportedly targeting Norwich City right-back Max Aarons.

Diogo Dalot is set to be out of contract at the end of the season, so Manchester United will have to consider finding a replacement if he decides to leave the club.

Dalot has impressed for Manchester United this season under Erik ten Hag, but has struggled to find consistent form prior to this campaign.

This could be a concern for the club if Dalot is unable to keep his current form going for a whole season or further, and they’ve now identified a potential target from the Championship.
